I recently had a very unpleasant experience at this taverna which I believe is very important to share as I’ve never experienced this before. I took my family there for a farewell meal, as we’ve been there several times before and enjoyed it but this time, the service was below subpar. The food is generally tasty and reasonably priced.
On the day, there was a storm and the only available table was near the end of an awning, which the four of us were placed at and gladly sat at after being told we’ll be moved when another table was free. My father asked if they could place an umbrella at the end of the awning so we don’t get soaked, which they’ve done on many occasions before during the summer when the sun is too hot but was abruptly told ‘no, can’t do that’.
A table near us was vacated after a few minutes which was given to a group of three. My mother asked how come we were not seated there and got answered back ‘who told you that?’ - with the worst attitude possible. They then proceeded to take the order from the table and started serving them shortly after.
During this time, bare in mind, not a single member of staff came to even take our drinks order. After 25 minutes, I asked one of the waitresses if someone could come to our table, to which I was told another one is responsible for ours and will come shortly.
Two more tables (which came and sat after us) had their orders taken and were served before we ended up leaving after 40- 45 minutes, leaving a tip for the bread they provided.
I fully appreciate a place can get busy but this place was not that busy on that particular day after all and I’ve never received such a level of attitude from any waiter or waitress in any of the restaurants I’ve visited in Greece or abroad and I’ve been to quite a few.
We ended up going to another taverna in the area with immaculate service and had a lovely time. I hope this was a one off incident and no one else gets to...
Read moreAbsolutely wonderful experience. We were looking for a casual place for some good fried calamari and grilled fish, and we got exactly that and more. The restaurant itself is tucked away in a residential neighbourhood away from the water front where most tourists are. The neighbourhood is very quiet until you walk very close to the restaurant. It’s unassuming and filled with locals. The service was really great and food came out very fast. We had some refreshing salads, which were incredibly fresh and tasty (get Nana’s salad). We also had this delicious grilled eggplant topped with tomato, cheese and seasoning. The grilled shrimp was amazing. Super flavourful and the shrimps were fresh and juicy. We also had this mussel rice dish which was really tasty, one of our favorite. A must get as well! Other highlights include whole grilled sea bass, fried calamari, grilled octopus, fried anchovies. Everything was so delicious. After the meal, the waitress bought us dessert on the house, which is a combination of honey cake with a scoop of ice cream. Such a good way to end a meal. All in all, evening well spent....
Read moreFantastic seafood, seems to be a local favorite. The shrimp were very solid in flavor, almost perfectly cooked (a few seconds too long on the grill) Don't recall eating such flavorful shrimp. Mussels are excellently cooked, very soft and flavorful. Mustard enriched sauce which was a first for us with mussels but seemed like a great choice Very reasonable pricing. Service is somewhat lackluster which may be due to the language barrier here. We sat inside & unfortunately the owner smokes cigarettes inside. I realize Greece has a huge cigarette addiction problem but it just leaves you with no place to eat in somewhat clean air (as outside every single patron was heavily smoking too. Just as a word of warning if you're coming from non-smoking countries like the USA or UK where this would be socially and legally...
