We visited this restaurant based on reviews for our last meal in Santorini to see the sunset.
First impression: We walked in to the restaurant expecting to be greeted straight away and we were ignored by two waiters. There was quite a few tables free outside and we asked to sit on the side to get a better view however we were told they are for reservations only. Not long after another couple arrived and asked to sit there and got told no because reservation only, however got told they could sit there anyway, waiter was visibly annoyed.
Food and drink: Paid 3.50 for an ice tea expecting it to come fresh in a glass with some lemon and got given a can of ice tea to pour myself and a glass which is quite frustrating as you could probably go to the shop and get the same can for half price. The day before had the same drink for the same price in an outstanding restaurant just down the road, which says a lot.
My partner had steak which at first glance looked very good, however discovered that it was probably 85% fat and hardly any meat at all.
The white wine was pretty acidic which means that is hasn’t got a good balance, however for €4 a glass you can’t complain about that.
I had the chicken with sweet and sour which tasted okay, the portion size was not enough though. There was a handfull of chicken pieces with even less chips.
Service: Very fast service and delivery of food, however when you’ve ordered a steak medium/well done that isn’t always a good sign. When asked how the meal was we said the steak was not very good and the reply from the waiter was ‘Hmmm yes, Okay’ before walking off. When talking to the older gentleman who was serving he was just trying to give excuses before passing us to another man who was very understanding and offered money off the bill which was appreciated.
Atmosphere: We went for the sunset and it was an okay atmosphere, however the tables outside were too close together. They should have been laid out horizontally, adjacent to the view, instead of vertically to cram as many tables in as possible. Food was left on our table for way too long after we finished which attracted little black flies which made us want to just get the bill and leave before the sunset.
Long story short, we both ended up going to get some chicken gyros for 3.50 and a desert from somewhere else as we were both left starving.
By all means come to this restaurant but it is far from the best in Santorini as many say. If you have limited days i would not...
Read moreCame here in July. This restaurant is the definition of family run; the father is the farmer, his wife the cook, and their three sons working as the waiters. They’re all super kind, the food is phenomenal tasting. Food recommendations are the fried white eggplants (unique to Santorini), the T-bone steak which was the most tender and juicy steak I’ve ever had, and also heavenly flavourful, their soutzoukakia, and at the beginning I’d also ask for some extra bread with their amazing tomato paste, also a special in Santorini. Out of all the places I ate in Santorini, this was by far my favourite. I would also recommend visiting their shop beside the restaurant where they sell their homemade Santorini products. They’re also amazing, their tomato spread in particular, and once again, the staff super kind. All of this for super great prices; not like any of those tourist trap restaurants. Lovely sunset view too. Unfortunately with the bus it’s hard to reach this amazing restaurant as the bus stop in Akrotiri is half an hour away. Just for the food here though, I’d go as far as booking a hotel near here (I stayed around five minutes away in Maison Des Lys). Also, it doesn’t look pathetic like you see on Street View. The imagery is from a decade ago. Look at other’s people’s reviews to see how lovely it actually looks. Plus bear in mind everything in Santorini basically shuts down after the tourist season (around late May to early October) including this...
Read moreOh gosh!! How I love this restaurant! Have been there two times, and I’m pretty sure that every time I travel to Greece, I’ll go there! The food is totally homemade, original Greek! It’s very hard to describe how delicious it tastes! It’s like a magical experience! It’s located in a very beautiful location at Santorini. A very calm and quiet place, with amazing views close by! The owner, Mrs Ana, is an adorable person! In 2017, my boyfriend and were there for the first time. We had a very nice conversation with MRs Ana, her son who gently gave us a suvenir from the store, which they had there for sale. I thought this was a very nice thing, and I promised to myself that the day I come back, I would give something like a suvenir from Brazil. Well, we went to Greece again in 2022 and once in Santorini we didnt hesitate to go back to the Good Heart restaurant. After a Pandemic we didnt know what to expect. Would this precious restaurant still be opened? For our surprise, it was!! Once there, I asked for MRs Ana, and She came. I had the suvenir which had been given to me in my pocket, and reminded her about all of this! Every body got so emotional, and I told her, I had bought something for them from my country. So, I gave her the suvenir. It was a unforgettable moment, All of us got very emocional, we hug and we cried! ❤️ Mrs Ana said that this kind of situation is what motivates her to continue working at the Good Heart! Can’t wait...
