Maïstráli — Restaurant in Municipality of Tinos

This was my second visit in 3-4 years and confirmed the good impressions from the first. Maistrali is what you expect from a traditional tavern in a Greek island: Good, well cooked food and good mood from the friendly staff. The variety offered is impressive. Local cuisine (with a special section of the menu highlighting traditional dishes of Tinos and local products), pasta and pizza, grill, seafood, a wide selection of salads, appetizers and "meze" as we call it in Greece, there is something for every taste. The location is excellent, right in front of the sea. If you stay in Kionia it is easy to access the place on foot and is only a 4-5 minute drive from Tinos port. Overall, a very pleasant experience. An absolutely incredible dining experience for us at Maistrali. We enjoyed the delicious dishes, especially the bbq shrimp with oil and lemon and their great house wine. The service was impeccable and always with a smile. We felt welcome and comfortable. I must say that the location is like it came out of a story book. We, and all tables actually, had a view of the Aegean waters, with the moon mirroring and lighting up a line to us. WOW!!! AMAZING!!! Ordered Maistrali Octopus which was supposed to be an oven dish with wine and herbs... one octopus tentacle split in half lengthwise arrived on a slim bed of shredded cabbage and carrots sprinkled with oregano - the octopus was boiled and possibly in the oven for a crispy effect but it tasted like rubber. The boiled greens we ordered for a salad were watery and the jumbo grilled shrimps were ok. If you are to go there since the view is nice, stick to basics for fish meze such as fried small fish and calamari. We had this another time...
