We ate here during the festival of Saint Mary in August. Because of this it's possible that our experience may have been effected by the peak time rush, (Petra was very busy that day) though we ordered early evening. They had a good menu but the first 3 things that my wife and I ordered where sold out and we asked for just bread and tzatziki for a starter. The bread was a couple of slices of garlic bread, which our toddler wouldn't eat. The cod was unavailable, so my wife had the swordfish (since I had raved about if from a previous restaurant visit), & I had the lemon citrone (as it was the only other available meat dish of any interest). We ended up swapping as the swordfish was a generous cut of meat, but was overdone and very dry. The edges where inedible. I'm told that my lemon citrone was passable, but not very lemony. Also I ordered an Alpha (beer) and they only had Mythos. All in all it was a little disappointing and I would usually give 2 stars, but the restaurant was full of large local families and groups, and they all seemed happy, so it's likely that we caught them on an off day, or at the end of a rush. As such the third star is for the benefit of doubt.
The fact that it's on the beach is wonderful and offers a lovely view, and I believe that it's one of the older and more established eating spots on the island. I remember that it has sun loungers out front for patrons to use on the beach, though every bar and restaurant seem to offer this service too. If we go back to lesbos we would definitely like to try eating there again as the staff where friendly and it has a nice atmosphere. There was a lot of possibility for a great evening here, but I don't think that we saw the best of...
Read moreThe view is fantastic. Service is great. We found the food was basic, although it was also cheap. It all tasted lovely, but it was just basic. My Streaky pork came with chips, no side salad, no other vegetables, and my wife's pork souvlaki came with chips, just chips.A side salad and some tzatziki would have finished the meal off nicely. There was no choice of dessert, just yogurt with honey, which was on the house, but we really fancied some baklava, and my son wanted ice cream. As I said, it was cheap so I still gave 4 stars. It's worth going for the view, but don't expect...

The best what we tourists would call a Taverna in Petra. My son Michael...
