While walking through the busy and lively streets of Petra, you for sure would come across a great restaurant named Yalo Yalo and would be warmly greeted and welcomed in by the great chef, the owner, Ridi. He would invite you in with the biggest smile like you'd be his old friend meeting after year's. He would then help you choose the best sitting place with direct view on the beach. Although he would bring you the menu, but as Ridi is more of an Artistic chef, he cooks something different everyday apart from menu, so though you can get all that is in menu but if you ask, you can get taste of much more! ;)
On first day when we asked Ridi on what's there to try in seafood, he just took us to the kitchen and showed us all the amazing and fresh seafood that he had and most of them wasn't in the menu as something new comes in every day. So for first day, we asked for fishes with no bones and on Ridi's recommendation selected big Tuna and one more type of fish.
Although the pictures of food that i will add would speak for itself, but the taste, the texture, from the way it was cooked till the way it was executed and served on table, it was complete perfection and a treat for your taste buds and view for eyes!
The fish cooked perfectly and served with boiled spinach, french fries, and Ridi's homemade olive oil sauce and all of it goes perfectly together. A plate of greek salad and drinks of your choosing with it, is highly recommended as it just elevates the experience further.
After eating here on day 1, I got so addicted to the great taste of food and out of world hospitality of Ridi that i ate here every evening till the last day of my 5 day trip. When someone comes to eat at Ridi's Yalo Yalo, Ridi doesn't treat you like a customer but more like a family member and tries to keep you smiling by talks, by great tasting food, by great service and he might spoil you even more by serving you water melons, ice cream and ouzo after your meal! :D
He would make sure you leave restaurant smiling and happy. Some of the other dishes that i luckily tried and recommend are: Shrimps Spaghetti Lamb chops Black sniper fish Mix Grill Big tuna fish Small tuna fish Garlic bread Rocket salad Greek salad
I recommend all that is in the menu and i also recommend the things that might not be in the menu and only Ridi will tell you on the spot :D
If you really want to make your trip to Petra truly memorable, i would highly recommend you try atleast one dish at Ridi's Yalo Yalo :)
I would post all the pictures of amazing food that would explain it all more and better :)
Thank you Ridi for everything i didn't just eat great tasting food but also made a family like friend :)
Oh and one funny side story :p one evening after being really high on food, i accidentally dropped my keys at restaurant and Ridi took the key's and went out on his bike to search me in town and give me the key's with laughs :D and that was the moment i realised i had dropped them :D it speaks volume about ownership and customer care :D
Best wishes...
Read moreIt is difficult to describe how good and authentic this place is. The owner is a man with great passion and attention to detail in serving guests, as is the entire team. Not only have we never been served so well in Greece, but in all of Europe! The fish is outstanding, and the owner is proud to show it off raw and boast about it to guests. During the week, there were three seasonal items on the menu. These are truly seasonal items, no nonsense. During four visits, there was not a single slip-up and the food was flawless! I recommend it...
