Greek Excellence! My wife and I visited Ellie’s Place two nights ago. We went with my sister and brother in law. I cannot speak for them, though the fact that this is their favourite restaurant speaks for itself. Upon entering we were very warmly greeted by Ellie herself and she made us feel welcome and valued. The open air section is full of Mediterranean ambience, soft Greek folk music in the background with wafts of garlic and herbs permeating the air. The wonderful aromas emanating from the kitchen were igniting both our hunger and our excitement. Ellie took the time to explain the dishes to us newbies ( my wife and I) and Amanda then chose a vegetarian Moussaka whilst I opted for Lamb Kleftico. We had drinks and waited a short while for the meals to arrive. Amanda’s was beautifully presented in an earthenware bowl and it looked as lovely as it tasted. The dish consisted of layered vegetables, with potatoes on the bottom that roasted beautifully and absorbed all the juices from the multi vegetable layering. This was topped with a béchamel type sauce and it was divine. My dish, the Lamb Kleftico, was flambéed at the table in a tin foil cartouche and upon opening the parcel my senses were given an instant treat! The succulent and ridiculously tender lamb was the star of the show, it smelled exquisite and tasted sublime. The slow cooked lamb was surrounded by vegetables and slow roasted potatoes that had absorbed all of the juices and flavours of the beautiful lamb and wonderful herb combination that included oregano, thyme and parsley, black pepper and of course wonderful Greek garlic. This was topped off with Feta cheese and roasted until the cheese intertwined with the rest of the dish producing the most incredible flavours! Rich, meaty and a wonderful surprise that my taste buds revelled in. This was one of the best dishes I have ever eaten and will certainly be back for more. To finish the evening we shared a wonderful Baklava and ice cream desert that was sweet, sticky and thoroughly satisfying. Ellie competed the incredible culinary journey with us by joining us for a shot of Ouzo. Truly magnificent and I would recommend it thoroughly if you like food excellence! Fantastic! Read moreRecently came back from a week away in Kalamaki. Decided to eat out on 3 occasions and 2 of those were at Ellie’s Place.
As we walked down the short strip, which had an abundance of restaurants to choose from we stopped for a quick drink. I looked on Google Maps and found “Ellie’s Place”. We took the short walk to the restaurant to decide what we wanted to do (I’m very indecisive).
Ellie’s Place was lit up and felt very welcoming. We entered and was welcomed and seated. Our drinks order was taken pretty much on arrival and Ellie came over to take our order. I had the Greek Plate which consisted of meatballs, lamb stifado, moussaka, green pepper stuffed with rice, feta cheese and roasted potatoes. My wife ordered the Lamb Klefitko.
The Green Plate was absolutely delicious. Every aspect of the meal couldn’t be faulted. The Lamb Stifado being the star of the dish. My wife ordered the Lamb Kelftiko which comes out wrapped in tin foil and on fire (nice touch). This had cheese, roasted potatoes, peppers and again the star of the dish the lamb which just melted in your mouth.
As good as the food had been the staff and Ellie were even better. Ellie had a lovely chat with us, and I could tell how passionate she was about her restaurant, not only from the excellent food and service but also from the 5-10 minutes we had chatting. We had a peach schnapps as we left, on the house.
The food was that good we decided to go back the very next night with my parents. But I will let my wife leave that review was that deserves its very own.
As you read through the reviews take the “bad” ones with a pinch of salt. We will definitely be coming back to Kalamaki in the future and you can guarantee that Ellie’s Place will be our first point of call.

Read moreIf there is a restaurant in heaven, it must be similar to Ellie's Place! This is by far the best restaurant I have had the pleasure of eating ever! You can order any dish, and I'm sure you will experience an unforgettable taste sensation. I thought that Italian cuisine is the best in the World, but Ellie changed my mind - now I know, that Greek food is the first on the podium! Meals are prepared perfectly. You can feel the highest quality of the products used. Grilled swordfish with the lemon sauce is just like an angel touching your tongue, salmon is a pure delight! Stuffed tomatoes and paprika with mint - it's like "Oh dear god!". You can be toothless to eat the lamb - it's so soft and just melts on the palate! I didn't use to be a fan of seafood but after tasted shrimps, octopus, or clams in Ellie's place, I am crazy about seafood! Grilled Halloumi with the local white wine could be my last meal before death! I could write more about all the dishes I tasted here, but I'll cut it down to one word: PERFECTION!
What is more: I'm going to change the word "hospitality" to "Ellie's Place" in my dictionary! Ellie is a wonderful, warm person. She puts so much love into her restaurant! You will feel here like having dinner at your best friend's house. The whole of Ellie's family is incredibly friendly - they care about a great atmosphere. I will definitely remember this place for the rest of my life as a piece of paradise on planet earth! Thank you from a bottom of my...
