Nireas tavern — Restaurant in Zakynthos Municipality

We stayed at the same house where the restaurant is located. First the view is breathtaking! Just picture perfect! We almost ate every day in the restaurant during our stay in this place. The traditional dishes are great.

Hospitable hosts, delicious traditional Zakynthian dishes, and wonderful dessert…what else can you ask for? I recommend to everyone to try the Zakynthian rabbit dish, wild boar (Stifado), Moussaka, seasonal duck dish, grilled Dorada fish and the lamb in the oven. As for the dessert we recommend to try Frigania and their homemade marmalade. They serve ingredients mostly from their farm. So if you are organic product conscious this is the place for you.

Also, i’d like to add that when you have kids, they have a place where they can play, so parents can chill and enjoy the stunning mountain and sea view.

The dinner at the Family Tavern Nireas is one of the great things that happened to us on the Island. According to reviews, this place was in our list of places to visit. We arrived tired from the heat after visiting tourist locations. We were greeted by a friendly lady who served us very quickly and in a family caring way. We were looking for homemade Greek food and we found it here. My sons chose fairly simple dishes and they were full and satisfied. I ordered moussaka and it was great! For dessert, we were offered a cold watermelon as a compliment. We had only one desire: to admire the beautiful view from the terrace, watch the sleeping dog and stay here as long as possible. Hands down, the best restaurant we've dined at (for 3 times) during our two week stay on the island. The scenery is stunning, especially at sunset. Absolutely tranquil and quiet atmosphere backed up by traditional greek music. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful! Since we were on a low carb diet, they served us salads instead of potatoes and pasta as side dishes. The food is amazing and the portions are pretty generous.
