Taverna Xigia — Restaurant in Zakynthos Municipality

I just have to say — this was our favourite restaurant in Zakynthos! We were lucky enough to get the most beautiful table for two overlooking the sea, and the ambience alone made it such a memorable evening for my partner and me.

The service was outstanding — the staff were so warm and genuine, and really went out of their way to make our experience special. A special shoutout to Kostas, our server, who gave us amazing food recommendations — our favourite dishes were the ones he picked for us!

Highlights included the bruschetta, tzatziki, grilled octopus, spinach pie salad, and the standout orange pie with vanilla — totally unique and absolutely delicious. The food was also really filling and satisfying, without feeling heavy. I had a glass of white wine that was honestly the crispest and smoothest I’ve ever tasted.

We ordered drinks, starters, mains, and dessert, and the bill came to €91 — not cheap, but totally worth it for the quality, quantity, and the overall experience.

OVERPRICED, 16 euro for small portion, average quality We visited Taverna Xigia and loved the location right in front of the sea. Unfortunately, the food was not up to the expectations. We took a GRILLED SQUID 12 euro - very tough, not tasty, served on a bed of very sad and dry lettuce. Then we tried a suggestion of the chef, ORZOTTO WITH SEAFOOD, 16 euro. Really surprised how untasty it was, 3 prawns and 3 mussels on top, which were cold, and a small portion of orzo pasta in a very unflavourful sauce. SUCH A PITY! You are eager to pay 12 and 16 euro for a plate, that's Ok but you pretend at least a DECENT TASTE... Disappointed. The service is almost unexistent. We finished our plates and sitted 15 minutes and nobody came to clean up the table or offer dessert. Then we went to look for waiters, which were busy in a lively conversation between themselves, and asked for a coffee. We got our coffee, put on the table full of plates... Such a great location, and such a badly managed place. I would not...

We visited the restaurant in July. We didnt notice that it opens at 13:30. We were there earlier around 12. Nice staff said sorry that it is not open yet so we told him never mind we come later and he answered with smile that it will look forward us. It was so nice, that we forgot that we are hungry. 😀 We went to swim and came back. We have eaten there twice during my week stay in Zakynthos, because food was great. I looked forward to tasting their octopus, which impressed me from pictures of rewiews on google, which i read already home. I was very satisfied with my choise. Second time I ordered stewed veal, which my friend had first time and which was recommended by a nice owner of the restaurant. It was delicious too. Thank you very much.
