Don't stay here.||My boyfriend and I were hoping for peace, a private room and good service. But we got the worst. |”Private room" was located in the middle of the restaurant, without the opportunity to relax during the restaurant's opening hours. We had to be thrown around in three different rooms during our stay. ||The man who runs the business is unpleasant and without service mind. |He screamed at me and my boyfriend, offended me personally and behaved really immature. Get ready for his morning humor at 11am. Should you discuss something with him, do it in the evening.|A lot of energy went into processing our unpleasant, horrible response. ||The place itself is quieter than most others, the food is good and the staff in the restaurant is really nice and very helpful. Big plus to them. We stayed at Soul food for six nights.||Had I been able to choose again, I had done what other travelers have been talking about .. put some extra money to stay in a nice place with nice and good service. Because time is expensive on holiday, you do not want to risk getting into a fight for their rights. ||I am deeply sorry that people can act the way he did to us. And that I was stolen on my six days that I would breathe out and come down in a calm.||no excuses are excuses if you have to ask for them. Then its fake. Just like the soul food place. Nice on the surface but bad inside. A just one more thing! Our toilet did not ponder for two days, there were cockroaches everywhere and the mosquito...

Please do not stay here or support this business. The owner Garry is a rude micromanager. ||||The beds were so uncomfortable I had to move the mattress to the floor. He was rude to our friends. When you want to leave in the morning you can’t get off the property unless you climb the fence because the gate is locked over night and in the morning he is asleep so you’re locked in.||||What I am more concerned about but not sure whether or not readers on here will be but I hope so: he is abusive to his staff. He calls them names and blames them for everything. He sits at this one table all day and night right next to the kitchen monitoring everything like a petty tyrant. He is hungover and grumpy everyday and sits on his butt doing nothing but monitoring and micromanaging and berating the staff. He has lived in Latin America for several years and refuses to learn any Spanish. He is a racist white South African who comes in to communities, makes no effort to acculturate or contribute to the community in any way, exploits the locals and makes money off tourism that should be going to local people. Obviously he didn’t invent, nor is the largest agent of the exploitation of the tourism industry. But he is a particularly unsavoury one to come face to face with many times a day while you’re trying to enjoy the beach and hoping to interact with Guatemala and it’s people in an engaged non exploitative way. ||||Stay at cocori. Stayed in a private room with en-suite, facilities were basic but enough for a beach-based stay and although not on the beach, it took all of ... 60 seconds to get there.||Gary was a super host, a mine of information and puts a lot into the place. The property is guarded by his dogs at night - 2 of whom became my trusty companions on walks during and after my stay. I’d get up at the crack of dawn to surf and there would always be someone to let me out (the main gate is locked for security reasons)||Loved the chilled atmosphere - coffee left out in the mornings, I had free access to the kitchen to use the freezer, lots of space in the garden for washing ... and having a restaurant a few steps from my room. ||Anything needed re housekeeping you need to say something ... just about communication ||The long pool is a great place to cool off in the shade - unfortunately I should have made more use of it while I was there. Possibly could do with more hammocks in the shade...
