It’s not hard to recognize the level of care and intent chef Mike has when he is in the kitchen. The meal that was delivered will easily match or exceed any meal that I’ve had in the states. I ordered a perfectly done up steak and stuffed prawns, veggies, side of mashed potato with a mushroom sauce that touched all of the right senses. The meal was paired nicely with a select bottle of wine. What sends this bistro into the stratosphere is the same level of care and intent that goes into the food, it’s how chef Mike interacts with each one of his guests, he is not only preparing you a meal, it’s the experience and family vibe that you will get. He will personally tend to you, make sure your meal is perfect, and you will surely be included in a personal conversation, you will not get this in hardly any establishment. All of the wait staff is his family, every one is caring for you as they would each other. Mike will make you feel like you belong there as part of his family. Aside from the meal and unparalleled service, the vibe at the Zen Bistro has been meticulously created, beautiful clean open kitchen design, perfect lighting, peaceful river noises, comfortable music, and a very home feeling vibe, not a sterile restaurant. If you’re staying in the area, I would bet that you will return without a doubt for a 2nd or 3rd meal as I did. I saw that other customers did the same. I was recommended this place from Luis who is the travel agency in town (also highly recommended) and he did not disappoint. Actually even saw him with his friends eating dinner there the same night.

I ordered the bacon burger that came with fresh cut fries and an apple salad. Believe or not, one of the best burgers I've had. And I dont say that lightly as I have spent nearly 10 years in the restaurant industry. I finished off the meal with the Apple Pie dessert that really just made the night complete.

This is a family owned restaurant with more than 2 decades of restaurant experience in the kitchen and made you feel a part of their family when dining with them.

The best restaurant in Central America! The menu is amazing, and the food is simply wonderful. You can feel the love and dedication the chef puts into every dish. The experience was so incredible that I recommend going for both lunch and dinner – it's totally worth it!
