Xelapan Los Altos — Restaurant in Municipio de Quetzaltenango

I cannot review them as a bakery per se, but as a place to order a thick black bean soup and heavenly loose-leaf lemongrass and cardamom tea pot, i certainly can. The most notable thing about this location (i think it's a local chain) is how quiet it is in the back seating areas; that despite the entrance being a wide open doorway facing the city's central plaza, and despite the biggest festival of the year coinciding with my visit, i could actually hold conversation at a comfortable quiet level while dining. And did i mention the tea?! This place gives Panera a run for its money. Note that they didn't have WiFi for the use of patrons. I don't blame them: it's not easy to find such a nice place to sit indoors yet so close to the mayhem of a market or concert on the plaza. Offering free WiFi might inundate them with warm bodies not interested in buying...

Entre a las 7:40 a ver si había servicio. Cual fue mi sorpresa, ya llevo un 23 minutos esperando. Pongamos contexto, entre a esa hora y estaba lleno, al sentarme, se escucha gente que no ha hecho pedido, pero que va a comer lo de siempre (supongo que están acostumbrados), en otra mesa esperan su orden y creo que hoy vine aquí a sentarme más que a comer. Como siempre, no importa en que sucursal entre, el siempre me fallan a mí. Pero hagamos esto algo constructivo, veo que esta lleno, así que si uno es consumidor frecuente de acá supongo que lo aguantan. En el segundo nivel, cuando entre no había nadie afuera viendo a sus consumidores, supongo que le hace falta más personal (para estar entre las mesas, atendiendo y supongo que cocinando). A los 23, me vinieron a atender (antes que a los otros). Pero como no tenía siquiera listo el menú a ver cuando regresan jajaja (supongo que ese si es mi error). +26 minutos es lo esperado por ellos para que uno decida. Buenos veamos espere 49 minutos y más salado no puedo estar, vino incompleto el pedido. Me voy a dar mi dinero en otro lado. Jajaja que triste Iba a poner el meme de dui de decepción pero ya...

Xelapan, The best bread in all Guatemala. I love Xelapan, the smell of fresh bread, cookies, cheese cake, and anything you can think of you can find at Xelapan. Although quite expensive Xelapan brings out the best of Guatemalan bread. I suggest to drink hot chocolate for it to be a great experience. You can't go wrong when buying...
