My wife and I twice breakfast in the Good Rebel in St Peter Port which is conveniently located near the Premier Inn where we were staying. From the initial, genuinely-smiling greeting at the door to the moment we left, the service was prompt, attentive, genuinely caring but not intrusive. We felt that team members are allowed / encouraged to express the most positive parts of their own personalities. On our first visit, we chose lighter breakfast options which were delicious and satisfying to just the right degree. Second time round, we chose more substantive "brunch" options and these were equally if not even more tasty. The Good Rebel is situated in a modern building and has a chic - arty but understated decor that, looking around us, appeared to appeal to older & younger couples and families alike. Discretely hung acoustic panels ensure you are dining amidst a muted "buzz" rather than a conversation-killing "hubbub". The menu and overall offering here are well "ahead" of a typical UK cafe and to a degree this is reflected in the prices. That said, taking a little care with your menu selections, you can have a well above average dining experience at only a moderately above average price. On both visits, proprietor Steve spoke with us and other diners and it is clear that he cares a lot about both his customers and his staff. Incidentally, we ate at a number of other Guernsey restaurants etc and only one came close to providing the high-quality dining experience we enjoyed at...
Read moreThe Good Rebel is next to the new Premiere Inn Hotel. Parking can be found behind the multi storey car park. Park in the marked bays for the Good Rebel. They have plenty of outdoor seating available for the nicer days and lots of seating indoors. We didn't book and was surprised to see how busy they were for breakfast. Didn't think we were going to get in it was that busy and this was in September this year. Thankfully we were shown a table and ordered two coffees, pancakes with maple syrup and bacon, a side of sausages and broiche bread with mushrooms and eggs Benedict. The presentation of food was incredible. Portions extremely good, and quality and taste of food amazing. The sausages were probably the best ones I've ever tasted. Packed with flavour and the best I've even eaten. The staff were all smartly dressed and very attentive. It wasn't the cheapest breakfast but definitely the most memorable one. The Good Rebel is somewhere you would go every month for treat or if you had freinds/family visiting Guernsey. Definitely will be back and going to say I would highly recommend...
Read moreSoft Drink Robbery. I was very disappointed this weekend by Good Rebel. I always used to champion this place and have been here countless times before, but I arranged a meeting here Saturday afternoon for an hour and drinks. I ordered a beer (x2 cus im 'ard) for £5.50 and don't have an issue with that, but the people I met with ordered a pint of Diet Coke and a Lime and Soda. When I went to pay the bill I was stunned £5.50 for the DC??? and £2.85 for a bit of lime cordial and water???? I came away from what would have been a pleasant hour feeling robbed. I would have given £2 tip for service, but I simply couldn't after seeing the bill and it's not the staffs fault. It's such a shame as was one of my favourite spots, the food is decent, the ambience and space is excellent and the service is good, it's just a shame the soft drinks prices...
