Öreg Halász vendéglő — Restaurant in Siófoki járás

We went to the restaurant at 7 pm, with a table reserved for 2 person. we arrived there and we found ourselves facing to a pretty little wooden house. everything went well, until we went inside the restaurant. our waiter said where is our table with pointing at the table and with a cold welcome. i’m never rude with older people but i think it should be the same backwards because even though we are younger than the waiters, they don’t need to be rude at all, especially if we are the ones who pay to them. anyways, when we got the fruit soup almost all the cherries had the seeds. also the waiter said to us in a really angry way, with a rude attitude that: “can’t you see that there are a lot of people in the restaurant right now, waiting for their orders? we won’t get your order for the second meal separated from the soup, what do you think?? you order everything now or you order nothing.”(we wanted to order after because we didn’t know if we’ll be hungry after the soup or not). also when i asked the other waiter to take away our food, he started to argue with me to put the fork and the knife in order because if it’s on the plate, he won’t take it away at all. he was so rude also. it’s horrible that my boyfriend came here from mexico to eat hungarian food and we got back home with our stomach hurting after the food, they gave us. also i am the one who can speak hungarian from the both of us, but i can’t decide if they were rude with us because i was the only girl who could say the orders, because my partner can’t speak our language and they couldn’t speak english, just german or they were rude because we were young. i don’t really know to be honest, but i’m so dissatisfied and disappointed with the place. i won’t come back...

the reason why I gave 2 and not 1 is because my family knows the owner. first of all the food is really great, but how we were treated during our stay I really must say that I have not expierenced this at all in any restaurant. we have ordered our food, most of us ordered fish, since it is a place famous for their fish dishes. we have waited more the 80 minutes, no one informed us why we are waiting for so long. then my mom asked the waiter if everyhing is alright since it has been a while we ordered. the waiter just comment that one of the fish which was ordered needs at least an hour. this he ofcourse said without any other comment like, sorry that you had to wait. then my mom said, but if we knew that that fish takes that long we would have ordered something else. I have not met a waiter that rude in my life. he made faces and just walked way without answering our questions. the fact that only at the vey end when the owner came so that we can pay, he was appologising very strongly, especially that my parents go there many times with friends. So in my opninion that waiter should be fired and he should look for job where he does not have to...

I would love to give this place 5 stars, the fish made as "Matula bácsi" likes it was terrific, I also had a taste of my wife's catfish with spinach and that was also great. But the service was just so poor... We were waiting for 80 minutes for the food and asked what is going on then the waiter just said one of the fishes needs an hour to be ready... Something he clearly knew when we placed the order and forgot to inform us... Also no sorry plus it was already 20 mins past the 1 hour mark (truth to be told he didn't start on a good mark, being rude when we selected drinks already). We almost stood up and left. I hear the place is great in off season so if you come anytime outside of summer you'll probably have better service (one waiter in particular who is a longtime member of staff is indeed very nice and helpful).
