If I could give them less than one star I would and I can’t speak to the food since I never got to eat any, but after walking in and smelling it, I’m glad they turned us down , as I am absolutely appalled by our experience at TGI Fridays in Reykjavik. We walked in about an hour and a half before their stated closing time, fully expecting to enjoy a relaxing meal after a long day of travel. What we encountered was nothing short of shocking.
Upon entering, we were greeted not with a smile, but with blatant hostility. There were three employees standing around, chatting amongst themselves, and making it painfully clear they had no intention of helping us. Despite clearly seeing us, they chose to ignore us entirely. When we finally managed to catch someone's attention to ask if we could get a table, they looked at us as if we were speaking a foreign language — which, ironically, wasn't the issue at all since my friend speaks Icelandic. They could hear us perfectly fine; they simply didn't care.
One employee, who clearly understood everything we were saying, rudely dismissed us with a condescending tone, claiming they were closed — despite it being well within their advertised hours on the company’s own website. The entire interaction felt like they had already decided we weren’t worth serving, and they made no effort to hide their disdain. It was disrespectful, unprofessional, and downright infuriating.
The restaurant itself was no better. The air was filled with a foul odor, suggesting that cleanliness is clearly not a priority here. It looked like the place hadn’t been properly cleaned in ages. For a brand like TGI Fridays that we usually rely on when traveling for a consistent standard, this location was a complete letdown.
If this is how TGI Fridays in Reykjavik operates, they’re actively damaging the reputation of what should be a trusted, reliable brand. It's incredibly disappointing that the company would allow such rude and lazy employees to run one of their establishments. I sincerely hope TGI Fridays corporate does something about this because it’s not just a matter of bad service — it’s a complete lack of basic decency and respect for customers.
Avoid this place at all costs. It’s not worth your time, money,...
Read moreUPDATE: Man, things have changed since last time. I had to edit my review after recently visiting the place again. When you go to Friday's you expect a consistent experience, even though you're ready to pay probably more than average. It's usually worth it. But I'm afraid is blt anymore.
The service? Slow. The staff? They acted like they didn't care. The food? Definitely the worst I've ever had in Friday's. The cooks? They were just laughing, talking and hanging out in the kitchen.
After a lady that looked like the manager sat us without a single smile in her face, she took our order. That was quick. However no one brought our beverages and no one even brought forks and knives even though the appetizers had arrived. We ordered the Loaded Potato Skin. They looked lie heated after being frozen. They were really dry. After a while we got the main course. I ordered a half rack of ribs. Damn, I hadn't had a rack of ribs for while and I was excited to see a good BBQ sauce glaced ribs. Nothing closed to reality, since they were some ribs with a huge load of BBQ on top. Really disappointed.
Finally, I decided to go to the bathroom and I had to go through an area where there were no customers. Maybe because of that they didn't care much about the condition. But you have to pass through really close to the kitchen, and I could see piles of dirty plates. On top of that, I found some dirty mopes getting dryed in the radiator (see picture). ,
Really disappointed. And for that price? It will have to pass A LONG TIME for me to decide to come back. If I ever come back.
Old Review: Awesome food. I'm used to eat in Friday's in other countries and the food is pretty much the same. It never disappoints. My favorite dish is the Jack Daniels' Chicken Strips. I...
Read moreI have always liked TGI Fridays and specially the Jack Daniels burger with the sauces. I have tried TGIF in USA, Norway and Iceland. Many years ago the Iceland TGIF was the best in Europe and i remembered it well because i came there almost every month. Too the review! Where to begin, we came in TGIF and we got seated right away. We order drinks and the Jack Daniels burger (we did not asked how we like our burgers cooked), we got our drinks Pepsi MAX and they tasted nothing like Pepsi. The burger came 5 min´s after we order, that was really fast. We check out the burger and fries, and the burger was steamed cook not Grilled like TGIF say´s, the kale, tomatoes and onions where fresh. TGIF say the burger is 7oz (198gr) we know what a 200gr burger looks like and that was nothing like that, it was maybe 4oz around 100gr. I asked the waiter how much the burger weighs, he asked the cooks and came back and said 170gr. The french fires we got where old with new. We tasted everything and the fries where cold and warm, the burger was not hot. I can not say that the TGIF is good like it used to be. We can not recommend this TGIF, sad to say. We ate little of the food and left the drinks, we paid and left more hungry then we came.
There is a photo with a screenshot of the menu in Icelandic and English and they don´t say what the burger weighs in grams but in the English it says 7oz grilled in JAck...
