This restaurant had pros as well as cons. Let me start with what went well.
We stepped out for dinner pretty late, not expecting most restaurants to be open. That's when we stumbled upon this Sagar Ratna and much to our surprise, they were more than willing to take our order at almost 11:00 pm! Although they did not have most of the items we asked for, we still managed to get some hot food at such a late hour.
The second factor that took us by surprise was the quantity that was served; it was very generous indeed. That was definitely a plus.
Third, there is a spacious designated parking lot for this restaurant, which is great.
Now for the cons: Cleanliness and Upkeep - Not very clean or well-maintained.
Ambience - Very ordinary decor and interiors.
Quality and Taste of food - Average. The Lemon Rice, although hot and freshly prepared, was barely tangy. There was no zing to it. The Tandoori Soya Chaap was pretty good, though and had the right amount of oil.
The Gulab Jamun was a total disaster! The worst I have ever had! I was shocked when I saw it because it was so small and shrivelled, that I didn't feel like eating it. Besides, it was over heated, undercooked and did not have even one drop of syrup! When I pointed it out to the waiter, he just smiled and went ahead and billed us for it too, without even rendering an apology! If it was any other restaurant, they would have either waived it off or offered to replace it with something else! It was such a waste of Rs.40 for one pathetic, measly so-called Gulab Jamun!!!
When I asked for Filter Coffee, which is usually always there on the menu of a South Indian restaurant, the waiter seemed clueless about the concept! He then said that only Instant Coffee was available.
This restaurant will not be a preffered choice again. Will go there only if nothing...

Visited Sagar Ratna in Agra for a change from the usual North Indian fare, and it delivered quite well. Known for its South Indian specialties, the restaurant offers a clean, family-friendly setting with quick service.
What I Liked: • The dosa, idli, and vada were fresh, crispy, and served with tasty chutneys and hot sambar. • North Indian dishes are also available, making it a good choice for mixed groups. • The ambience is clean and well-lit, suitable for families, tourists, and small groups. • Service was efficient and courteous, with reasonable wait times even during lunch hours.
Things to Keep in Mind: • Prices are slightly on the higher side for a casual meal, but the quality justifies it. • May get crowded on weekends, so advance reservation or off-peak visit is ideal. • Limited parking in front, so plan accordingly if arriving by car.
Overall: Sagar Ratna in Agra is a reliable spot for clean, authentic South Indian food with a comfortable dining experience. It’s not gourmet, but it’s above average in taste, hygiene, and service—definitely worth considering for a light, flavorful meal...
Read moreLocation is good. Visible on main road. The ambience of the restaurant is good with nice seating arrangements. The seats are comfortable. The staff is also good and doesn't disturb you while you are having conversation with someone or eating. But they are at a visible distance if you want some help. Food quality is similar to other sagar ratna outlets in India. You can inform them about your preferences about a preparation and they follow it like less oil and butter etc. Food pricing is very affordable. Service quality is also good. Restroom is also available but needs to be cleaned better especially the hand washing area. Overall a good experience especially for someone like me who had no idea about agra. With brands like Sagar Ratna one can you can be assured of quality and the risk factor is less. If you are tourist and dont like taking chances with local food then its better to stick to such food chains like...
