Disappointing Service at Taj Mahal Restaurant
Our visit to Taj Mahal Restaurant in Agra was far from the experience we had hoped for. After a long journey from Hyderabad, we were excited to enjoy a good meal, especially after seeing foreigners being served with what seemed like enthusiasm. Unfortunately, our experience was the complete opposite.
From the moment we sat down, the steward, Mr. D, seemed disinterested and unfriendly. We received only three menus for our group of five and, upon asking for recommendations, got an indifferent response. When we inquired about a vegetarian meal, his explanation was vague and unhelpful, leaving us no choice but to settle for a veg pulao.
The food took 15 minutes to arrive, which was reasonable, but the real issue started when we expected basic service. When we requested that our food be served, Mr. D responded with a shocking statement—food would only be served upon customer request, implying that we should have explicitly asked beforehand. Meanwhile, we noticed that foreign customers were being served with smiles and enthusiasm.
The clear difference in treatment was disappointing and unacceptable. A restaurant that prides itself on hospitality should treat every customer with equal respect, regardless of their appearance or background. This experience left us with a sour taste, not because of the food but because of the service.

It was an outstanding representation of Mughlai cuisine. The Butter Chicken was equally impressive. The creamy, buttery gravy with well-cooked chicken was flavorful and indulgent, making it a classic choice that didn’t disappoint. To start, the Chicken Salt and Pepper was a delightful appetizer. Crispy on the outside and tender inside, with just the right amount of seasoning, it set a great tone for the rest of the meal.Overall, Taj Mahal Restaurant delivered an unforgettable Mughlai dining experience, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Agra. He ensured that every detail was taken care of, contributing significantly to the overall satisfaction...
