It is a very old and popular tiffen center in Guntur. I used to eat tiffin's here only when I was in Guntur for sometime in 1986. The bus-stop nearby is named after its name. This shows how popular it is on those days.So, I was a very old customer to it. At that time there were many kinds of ATTUs like Minapa Attu, Pesara Attu and some other forgotten ATTUs. Then, it was on the main road attracting all the people passed by. The rush was heavy at that time. It appeared as a JEWEL on the main road. I could even remember those memories today. Due to the ever changing world phenomena it was shifted to a side road in an attractive building with more space. Now, it looks fine. The tasty tiffin's which had been served in its old accommodation seems to have lost its fragrance. The rush also seems to be low. However, it is an I'm one even today for the loved ones. The rates of different items now being served are moderate to the present days....

Sankar Vilas, still a land mark in Guntur, is no exception to this change from good to worst. The aroma, the taste, the affectionate service that was once the hallmark of this hotel are now very much missing. The chef doesn't know how to make an onion dosa, he put dry onions on a dosa that was burnt to black, and the server who served that, served with little arrogance and carelessness. The supervisor too was no different in his attitude. Coffee was no doubt the best. But, my visit to this hotel, after a very very long time, with lot of expectations to re live my old experience, gave me lot of disappointment and left me dissatisfied. I may think twice before I plan a visit this place again. I penned down here only my experience I neither recommend others to visit nor suggest...
Read moreHad lunch,and tiffins..service is fast,vegetarian,food ,lunch , Andhrapradesh ,recipes,the plate is served in banana leaf,two pickles ,one pachadi,means chutney,one karam podi,ghee is served,one pappu,(dhal),pappu charu ,it's not sambhar ,one dry curry, one liquid curry,chaaru(rasam) in Telugu,Andhra style,majjiga pulusu, curd bowl,one appadam,means papad,..the day we had is carrot fry very nice taste,bendakai,(lady finger) pulusu..very tasty, majida pulusu,with poosinikaya.,white pumpkin,all are tasty with gongura ,raw vulipai,pachadi .and one sweet,why I am telling the , items in Telugu is,sambhar and rasam in most of the hotels are tamilnadu style,but here all the cooking is in Andhra style,with hot rice, unlimited.. service is good,..and after its not heavy too..if u visit Guntur please go to this place ,there are many varieties of tiffin,and ,icecreams ,hot milk flavored,cool drinks,gulab jamun,take away all...
