This is my favourite restaurant in all of my Arunachal Pradesh trip! Run by women - a group of sisters, with pretty and clean ambience, and great service, it's a delight to dine at after a long morning of local sightseeing, visiting Bumla, or shopping in the local markets. Since it's within the market centre, the location is pretty great too.
Coming to the food - We've been there twice and both the times, the food was delicious and freshly prepared and of good quantity and reasonable prices too!
Listing favourites in order (which actually is all of the food we had!) : 🍜 Shirkyong-pa with Tingmo (veg) - slightly thick cheesey gravy with mushrooms, paneer, spring onions and mildly spiced with green chillies, it was our favourite if you like a creamy soup. 🍜 Veg Thukpa - perfectly cooked noodles of the right thickness in a delicious vegetarian broth - it was amaaazing to start the meal in the cold weather. If you're dining solo or in a group of 2, the quantity was so much that I'd recommend a light starter to accompany, if needed at all. 🥟 Veg & Chicken Momo - both variants were delicious, juicy and were accompanied by a delicious red chilli chutney - this was easily among the best momo we've had so far. The red chilli oil (not too spicy) filling that accompanied other wonderful fillings made it quite unique for us. 🍛 Chilli Paneer - my dad who dislikes chilli anything because of the overpowering flavours found it delicious! That doesn't mean it was mild - not at all - but it had a perfect balance of flavours - spicy, garlicky, only slightly sweet, with fresh paneer, it was a wonderful starter! Other Indo-Chinese dishes around us seemed to be delicious too!
Notes: this restaurant serves chicken and vegetarian food only (no pork) they have biriyani, north indian main course dishes (veg & non-veg), fish fry, etc on their varied menu. It'll satisfy every palate! we spent 1k for a 6 person meal, and around Rs 700 for a 4 person meal you always have to wait a bit for fresh food - not a lot but at least a little bit - that's sign of...
Read morePathetic. Been there after checking the reviews and it was my my mistake. They are charging 180 for chicken momo, 10 rupees extra than their menu price (reason unknown). In the name of chicken momo it was filled with only onions. And someone has to use a microscope to find chicken in it. I left the entire plate after trying only 2 pieces. They were not even sorry for it and charged me the entire amount.
This is the reason why restaurant like Mon Valley, Mon Zakhang had a lot of customers and they don't. They are spoiling the name of Tawang by using it in their restaurant name. Tawang food is far better and they do...
Read moreThe restaurant is quite spacious. We ordered 2 plates of chicken momo. 1 steamed and 1 fried but instead of fried they served masala momo. Masala momo was basically momo in gravy along with fried capsicum and onion. For 2 plates of momo we had to wait for 30 mints. The size of the momos were good but the filling wasn't. It had very little quantity of chicken filling in it. The price...
