PS: Review edited and downgraded to 1 ⭐ from 3 ⭐ after seeing restaurant response to my extremely generous review
Reviewing a place after you have had a bad experience is not easy. While there is always the possibility that the restaurant is usually better than this and I was unlucky to have a bad experience, what does not change is that my experience was bad and even after there was scope for the restaurant to rectify their mistake, they did not do that. I asked for a pork mini thali of Rs. 300 (which on the menu, showed smoked pork as part of the thali) and goroi masor pitika. I had to wait for 36 minutes for this simple order, in which the thali had only one pork curry, bhindi fry, rice and dal. This is the maximum time I have ever waited for a thali in any restaurant in Guwahati. Instead of smoked pork, there was just plain pork curry. I was then informed that I was supposed to choose while ordering. When I pointed out it was my first visit and it was the duty of the server to ask me which item I wanted as part of the thali, she continued to argue with me. The goroi pitika (Rs. 200) is so less that it is not even enough for one person. At that point I decided not to complain anymore and just eat as soon as possible and leave. The restaurant did apologise but never offered a discount or additional items as compensation. Clearly, it is a popular place and hence they don't care if they lose one customer. They have definitely lost me as a customer. The food is very ordinary, extremely overpriced and there is music playing so loud that the tables vibrate. If you prefer a place like this, then please do visit. For me, the first time was...
Read moreThis was our first trip to North East India and were keen to try authentic Assamese food. Banbati was very close to our hotel so decided to try it.
The entrance to the restaurant wasn't very visible, so had to ask a few people. It's on the second floor of what looks like an office/shops complex.
As you enter the restaurant you will find that the vibe and ambiance is on point! Decorated with bamboo and has a very traditional feel to it. The owner is very helpful and explained to uss the different delicacies they have on offer.
I tried their speciality bamboo grilled chicken which was delicious, however, it had too many bones. We also had the mixed veg sabji which was out of the world delicious! They also gave us some daal on the house. I would definitely come back again to try their thali as it looked amazing when the guests next to us ordered...
Read moreHas to be the worst restaurant in Beltola area , unfresh food , extremely low potion size in terms of price , half cooked food , poor taste , to top it all the manager/owner has this arrogant attitude .They have a Mahabharata sized menu with most items not available .Don’t waste your time and money visiting this restaurant.
Edit : Just look at his reply and you will know exactly what I am talking about . He should have informed when we ordered the food that his restaurant serves uncooked stale food after 10 PM . It’s clearly mention his timings are till 11 Am . If you don’t have the capacity to serve food after a certain time ,either inform earlier or close off the restaurant . The arrogance is worse than this restaurant’s food . And we don’t want any extra discount from a fraud...
