Cafe Momo — Restaurant in Assam

Riding from Nelsum Waterfall(Wokha, Nagaland) to Jorhat, we had our lunch at Cafe Momo. The ambience is good mostly crowded with college going students and family's.

We ordered Steam Momo, Hot Chilly Chicken Garlic Momo, Manchow Chicken Soup, Hot and Spicy Chicken Wings, Veg Fried Rice with Chilly Chicken Dry.

All the dishes we ordered are good in taste. Service is fast and serve food hot and fresh. Momo is good but thick dough, taste wise its really good with the clear chicken soup is top notch. Price is relatively good and affordable. Overall a good restaurant to hang around with friends and family.

Not Just Disappointed — Shocked by What I Found in My Meal

This used to be one of my favorite fast food spots, especially since it’s popular with youngsters and usually reliable. But my last visit was a nightmare.

I ordered chicken chowmein with specific instructions — no MSG, no onions, garlic, or cabbage, and minimal spice. Halfway through eating, I found a baby cockroach in the food. Disgusting is an understatement. (See attached photo and vid clip.)

Up until now, I had no complaints. But this made me seriously question their hygiene and food safety standards. This isn’t just about poor service — this is a serious health risk.

We ordered pan-fried momos, which were good, and chicken fried rice, which was average as the chicken pieces were chewy. However, the receptionist was rude and unprofessional during billing. He hid the QR code and insisted on cash payment, claiming UPI was only accepted for bills above ₹400. When questioned, he gave absurd excuses, such as not charging GST and avoiding taxes. If this is indeed a rule, as claimed by the receptionist, it should be communicated upfront, not imposed on customers at the time of billing.
