The very first thing that caught my eye when looking for Mishing cuisine restaurants in Jorhat through Google Map's photos was this restaurant's bamboo interiors, which enhances its ambience. We decided to try their sumptuous pork thali.
The first items served were smoked pepper pork in a unique bamboo dun (serving container) and a chilled bowl of refreshing po:ro apong.
After a few minutes, the full thali was served with a fresh mixed salad. The thali had 11 items, four of which were pork curry preparations: pork with mezenga paat (Szechuan pepper leaves), baanh gaaz (bamboo shoot), maati maahor dail (urad dal), and ou tenga (elephant apple).
These curries were to be had with topola bhaat (that had a steamed sweet-scented, slightly sticky rice wrapped in tora paat, or Alpine leaves) and regular steamed rice.
The other accompanying items were mostly sabjis (stir fried items)--koldil (banana flower), guti aloo bhoja (deep fried baby potato), lai xaak (mustard greens) with guti aloo, teeta kerela (bitter gourd), cauliflower--and aloo pitika...
