Gams Delicacy Restaurant is recognized as the first authentic Assamese dining establishment in Guwahati. I initially dined here in 2018 during a visit with my office colleagues, coinciding with a trade show at the Maniram Diwan Trade Centre, conveniently located just across the street.

However, my recent visit on September 14, 2023, painted a different picture. The restaurant had expanded, adding two new seating sections, which created a more spacious atmosphere. Regrettably, my dining experience took a turn for the worse when it came to the food. One of my colleagues ordered the authentic Assamese Thali, while I opted for the Chicken Biryani. Both dishes were a disappointment in terms of taste and freshness. The Chicken Biryani, in particular, had a stale and off-putting odor emanating from the meat.

I raised this concern with the staff, and they promptly addressed it by offering us two complementary servings of kheer as an apology. While the restaurant boasts a pleasant ambiance, there is a pressing need for a renewed focus on food quality. It's perplexing how a chef could knowingly send out a dish with unpleasant odors and stale ingredients to a customer. Immediate action is imperative to rectify such issues.

Additionally, I noted that the restaurant should pay more attention to the maintenance of their restroom facilities, as they had an unpleasant odor and were visibly neglected.

At this point, I find it difficult to recommend this restaurant until improvements are made in both food quality and overall...

We had visited on Sunday to have lunch, we were a group of 10 people. The first impression after taking our respective seats was really bad, there was nobody to take orders or at least serve water, i had to go personally to the reception to ask about taking the orders. We had ordered 5 pork thalis, 2 chicken thalis, 1 chicken lollipop, 2 butter naan and 1 butter chicken. Regarding the chicken lollipop, it had a smell which is not supposed to be there if it would have been made fresh. The quality of the thalis had also degraded to quite an extent. The food has gotten worse than what this restaurant was known for. I had even found a strand of hair on my rice, they changed it though after i complained. Regarding the service, it was horrible. They lack staff for sure, the whole ethic hall would become empty of any staff at times, even the reception was empty. I am neither visiting again nor recommending it to someone because of the horrible service. Everyone was disappointed and disgusted with the service.
