Marvellous
It is one of the best fine dining restaurant of Guwahati. If i go down with the menu , it is more of global food menu. Which has good selection of Seafood like lobster, Red snapper, Chilean Sea bass, scallops. Pork ribs and lamb chops are add on it. Karaknath chicken is cherry on cake.
It is one of the restaurant where vegeterian menu is highly innovative. Like saag tart , San marzano makhni , black dairy dal with goat cheese , potato with dog mustard .
We tried pulled pork phulka taco which was literally fantastic, full of pork meat , red cabbage and apple slaw , gooyey yellow cheddar was just blend all together, its just yumm . Coming to prawn and celery dimsum , it was just love . The sheet of dimsum made with potato -wheat starch and beetroot juice had lot of appealing, the filling was equally brilliant where prawn and celery chop binds to create wow .
The moroccan veg which was absolutely new to me , its made with chunky tomatoes , fresh exotic vegetables and fresh herbs . When the vegetables serves with cous cous , its something new but gives the feeling of more vegan food , but tasty and delicious .
We tried lamb shanks biriyani , believe me no where in India such portion ever served . Yes it is expensive but money worthy. Two big lamb shanks of approximate wt of 450 gm along with rice and two lamb tikki came to our table with bhurani raita and mirchi ka salan. Coming to taste , when lamb fats brust with garam masala, ittar and saffron it create a Lucknow dawat feeling. Moreover while in dum the bone marrow melts down to basmati rice , its just wallah! . Desserts - they have gajar ka halwa stuffed rasmalai, malai chaat, Mexican tres leches and Karachi baklava . We tried baklava with bhapa doi. Bhapa doi is always close to Bengali heart . But after the first bite of crunchy baklava with spoon of bhapa doi. Its bon appetite. Last the service, something new to see. Where Chefs are taking orders . Service waitress are so focused and attentive. The best part is the anticipatory service , immediately changed the naan when its got cold . Special mention to Miss Komal thapa and Anjali. The manger Mr. Gurucharan was very dedicated and excellent. Without thanking the person my blogs never end is Chef Sukhdev. Young and fantastic gentleman.
Best of luck to Jholoekiya

Read moreWe went there for some late breakfast at around 10.30 am today. We could see that they were just setting up so our expectations were not that high. We just wanted a quite place to sit and have some good food. The server, Mr. Binay came to us and told us that only breakfast options are available, puri and dosa. I asked him if there were any continental or American breakfast options available to which he straight up said no. I am not a big fan of puris or dosas in the morning but we chose two dosas. I ordered a coffee and my husband asked if they have Irish coffee. Mr. Binay kept saying the word Irish in a weird way as if he was correcting us instead. We didn’t understand and went ahead with something (which we understood) as Irish coffee. There was no menu so it was very difficult. Then I saw that they do serve pancakes and waffles so I asked the female server (who was clueless but polite) if pancakes were available. I am currently 8 months pregnant and was craving something sweet. Mr. Binay came to talk to us in his broken Hindi and told us ‘ Aapka order process go Gaya hai abhi cancel nahi hoga’ in the rudest way possible. First of all, why was he talking to us in broken Hindi when we were talking in Assamese and he was clearly not comfortable with Hindi; and secondly, who said anything about cancelling the order. I just wanted to add a pancake or waffle. He was so rude that I just didn’t order anything else and asked him to serve the dosas and our drinks. The female server was embarrassed for him. Then he came with our drinks, my coffee and a cold ‘ICED’ coffee. He thought that we couldn’t pronounce ICED or maybe he had never heard of Irish!
We went there after my check up in Pratiksha for some quite time with each other as we have a toddler at home. With the pregnancy, we hardly get time for ourselves. Mr. Binay just spoilt our experience so bad. For the first time in my life, I didn’t tip the server. The owners need to check the background of the servers and not pick up anybody random from the streets for lesser pay. Even dhaba/smaller eatery servers know how to treat their customers. Never...
Read moreThis place had been on my list for long. Finally visited them on my birthday this year, on a rainy Tuesday afternoon. Ambience is simply amazing, very very classy. We first ordered Crispy Lotus Stem chaat and Bamboo Roast Chicken. We loved how the chaat was assembled and enjoyed both the items. It was not wow, but it was okay. We also ordered two drinks which tasted fine. Next we ordered 36h Vindaloo Ribs and Baked Sea Bass, Amritsari Butter. After waiting for almost 40 minutes, we were informed that the oven has become dysfunctional, so these items won't be served. Weird that such a huge fine dining has only one oven 🙄. In the meantime, we found a strand of hair in the drink. On bringing this to their notice, they promptly replaced the drink, which we appreciate. We then placed an order for Mutton Shanks Biryani which arrived after another 20-25 mins. By now, we were frustrated and tired. All people who came before us had already left by now. Our biryani arrived and we ate it disappointed and asked for the bill. To make up for all the fiasco, we were given a free birthday cake, also mocktails were made free. We appreciate the efforts, but this is not how a fine dining should be. However, it needs to be mentioned that the service boy who served us - Sartom, did a commendable job (Service rating is for the chef, not the service boy). He always carried a smile on his face and greeted us with a lot of warmth and cheer. That guy deserves to go places. All in all, Jholoekiya really needs to up their game and get a chef who can efficiently run...
