Nagameez — Restaurant in Assam

I happened to dine in this place by accident or should I say coincidence. But, I found the food to be hot, tasty and soul-touching. I happened to order Porm Thukpa.

Recently, visited for second time to try out the Naga Special Pork Thali.

Food - 4.5/5 The Naga Special Pork Thali had soany food items. The taste was really reminded me of my time at Kohima. The food contained some hearty spices, and it was heavy too. It contained two pieces of smoked pork with axone. Small potato and mashed potato variant was also there, plus there was a hearty boiled broth based dish of fish. The rice felt a big less but to be honest, there so many extra side dishes, I didn't feel the need to ask for refill. The pork curry was spicy and filling. Overall, I was in a foodgasm.

Service - 4.0/5 The manager at the reception was very rough but very frank. He ensured I was having the dishes served properly, and he did it with a no nonsense attitude.

Atmosphere - 4.3/5 The decor displayed a beautiful bamboo design of Naga style with dimmed lighting to give an authentic feel. The place was clean and the furniture was varnished.

Final Verdict - 4/5 The entrance still looked shabby and wash basin still looked unsanitized. But, I was here for the food inside, which was awesome. I will be visiting again to enjoy the...

Let's talk about the good stuff first... Great ambiance. Nicely decorated. The Nagamese tribal paintings and photographs are a welcome addition to the ambiance and does look very beautiful. The variety of food. The menu has a good variety of food. The smoked items are an absolute must have. The place is clean and well maintained.

Now the bad stuff, or the things that can be improved upon. The price. You will actually feel embarrassed comparing the menu to some of the other leading restaurants in the same category. The price is very high. The presentation of the food that is being served doesn't do justice to the price. There are better options available and this is a challenge. The taste. While a very very few items in the menu have great taste, most of the other items are normal in taste. Again the price comes into play. If you are giving this food with a high price tag then either you increase the taste, quality or reduce the price.

Personally I love the place but it did burn a hole in my pocket when I gave a treat to a few people on my birthday and that seemed like a total...
