Urban Tea Bistro — Restaurant in Assam

No doubt, this cafe serves some of the best tea with a wide range of options. However, be prepared to leave your table even after you've placed an order. It’s understandable that tea cafes generally have limited seating—whether in Bangalore, Delhi, or any other city, most are cozy and compact. Many times, we would take our tea outside as all the tables were occupied, and other customers, mostly young people, would do the same, chatting and sipping their tea outside. My husband and I used to visit this cafe at least once a week for our evening coffee and tea. On our anniversary, we decided to grab our favorite tea. Luckily, as we arrived, a family had just finished their meal and kindly offered us their table since we had been waiting nearby. To save time, we had already placed our order, expecting to sit as soon as a table became available. However, as we settled in, one of the service staff abruptly knocked on our table and ordered us to leave. His behavior was shockingly rude. When I asked whether the cafe had a reservation or token system, he refused to answer and simply said that some girls were waiting outside for a table. He kept insisting we vacate the table. Soon after, one of the girls approached and started arguing, claiming they had been waiting outside. I didn’t understand the logic—many people were waiting, yet no one else came forward claiming a table. Since we had been waiting inside the cafe, we naturally took the first available table. I later found out that a friend had a similar experience here. I raised the issue with the person at the reception counter, who seemed to be the owner, but he showed no concern about his staff’s unprofessional behavior. This cafe has always been my favourite since the first time I visited it. We almost go there on a regular basis. Yesterday, I and my friend wen there for tea and we had some snack with us so just had it with the tea. The owner sent his waiter to tell us that outside food is not allowed while we were eating and to mind it from the next time. We always order various items from your cafe. We are fine with you people dictating rules but there is a way and time of saying things out. It's not like we are new to your cafe. From next time onwards, we wouldn't even think of visiting your cafe. Was not expecting such rude behaviour from this urban shop. Moreover, your ambiance makes it a good place but when it comes to the snacks you provide in your cafe, you really need to upgrade your menu. The seekh kebab we ordered last time was...

When you are into food business, you must know that any hot/sweet beverage be better served at last when the food that had been ordered has been consumed by the customer. Instead they served hot tea the first thing and then the food order. Now how can someone eat food immediately after drinking hot tea ?? Please sensitize your workers to be mindful of this basic human tendency when they are into food business. Or atleast they must ask the customer as to in what order they would like their orders to be served. That's the basic prerogative of...
