Indian Coffee House in HSR, Bangalore, is a nostalgic gem that offers a unique experience, blending old-world charm with the flavors of classic South Indian cuisine. Stepping into this place feels like taking a step back in time, with its simple decor and traditional ambiance, which adds to the authenticity of the experience.
I visited this place with a few friends, and we were all impressed by the quality of the food. The coffee, as expected, was exceptional—strong, flavorful, and served piping hot. It’s exactly what you’d hope for from a place with “Coffee House” in its name. Along with coffee, we ordered the masala dosa, vada, and a plate of idli. Each dish was prepared to perfection, with the dosa being crispy, the vada crunchy on the outside and soft inside, and the idlis fluffy and light. The accompanying chutneys and sambar were flavorful, adding the perfect balance to the meal.
One aspect that could be improved is the service, which is a bit on the slower side. At times, this can be a bit annoying, especially if you’re in a hurry. However, the staff makes up for it with their politeness and attentiveness. They are quiet, respectful, and make sure to listen to all your needs, ensuring that your dining experience is as comfortable as possible.
Contrary to what you might expect from a place that exudes such a traditional vibe, the seating is quite comfortable and the restaurant has a good capacity to accommodate guests. The tables and chairs are well-spaced, allowing for a relaxed dining experience without feeling cramped. This makes it an ideal spot for both small groups and larger gatherings.
One of the highlights of Indian Coffee House is its reasonable pricing. Given the location in HSR, which is known for its trendy cafes and eateries, Indian Coffee House stands out for offering great food without burning a hole in your pocket. Despite the slow service, the quality of food and the overall experience more than justifies the wait.
The atmosphere is laid-back and inviting, making it an ideal spot for a casual meet-up over coffee or a quick bite. The restaurant’s commitment to maintaining its traditional roots while providing a comfortable and satisfying dining experience is truly commendable.
In conclusion, Indian Coffee House in HSR is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates traditional South Indian food and wants to enjoy a great cup of coffee in a comfortable setting. The simplicity and authenticity of this place, combined with its comfortable seating and polite service, make it a standout in the bustling HSR area. Whether you’re looking for a hearty breakfast or just a quiet spot to sip on some excellent coffee, this place...
Read moreWe are regulars at ICH HSR and visited today on the occassion of Onam, along with my elderly parents.
We did not know aprior that it would be only Onam Sadhya on menu today and that it was to be booked in advance. We were told that walk-ins without booking would take 30-45 mins.
My mom was keen to try the Sadhya, so we decided to wait.
There was a queue to bill, I queued like all others. I reached the billing counter in ~20 mins, but the person at the billing counter tried dissuading me from paying for Sadhya on the pretext that it would be another 30-45 mins. Since my mom was keen, I agreed to prepay and wait.
Soon after, a few customers returned from the floors, where Sadhya was being served, and complained that the arrangement on the floors above was very disorganized and it was an endless wait. Another customer said that they had to get up to get Sambhar for themselves and service was suboptimal.
Worried that my parents wud not enjoy the experience, I told the cashier to kindly take the coupon back. On this, the waiters and the cashier teamed up and started telling me that I shudn't have paid and bought and that they were anyway dissuading me. I told them that they never told me that the wait is going to be endless, and that one had to wait 'standing' in the queue on 5th Floor (my mom was under the impression that they cud wait on the ground floor where they were seated), and that the large crowd had impacted the quality of service delivered as well.
It was disappointing to see such unreasonable arguments being used by them in spite of asking them politely first. Finally I lost it and had to raise my voice so that the words could penetrate their stone-walled ears. But, it all seemed to fall flat on the staff today at ICH. A simple suggestion to them that they could have just informed us that walk-ins would not be entertained today, would have settled the matter, but instead, they had people queue up and pay after misinforming them, and oblivious of the fact that servers on the floors above were unable to manage the crowd adequately.
Been visiting ICH HSR from early days, in fact I was the one who created this Google Business listing when I first spotted it and visited it, but disappointed to see such gross disregard and high handed attitude being taken by staff of ICH attitude with a customer, more so, with one who was there with elderly parents and had been a regular.
I will give ICH HSR a miss since such behavior is...
Read moreWhile I was taking my weekend strolls in HSR, I came across this multi-cuisine restaurant run by Indian coffee workers co operative society ltd Jabalpur,
Even though I wasn’t much hungry just thought of giving it a try.
The ambiance of the restaurant is quite classy and looks sophisticated with the clean and tidy atmosphere. The entire restaurant is air conditioned, which makes it a perfect place for hot summers.
Since restaurant wasn’t crowded I chose one of the big tables to dine in and relax. After going through the entire menu, I settled down for my all time favourite masala dosa and to a glass of fresh orange juice for the hot weather.
While my order was being prepared, I explored the restaurant, it has got a clean n tidy hand wash area, a beautiful aquarium with lots of tiny fish and a lobby to enter their party hall.
When I received my order, I was awestruck with the size of the masala dosa, it was literally size of a paper dosa, so I just double confirmed with the waiter if the order was right.!
The dosa did look good but could have tasted better, the chatney was delicious and sambar complimented the chatney instead complimenting the dosa. Since it was huge it got dry n cold by the time I finished just half of it. A spoon of oil or ghee could have saved the dish.
Orange juice was really made from real fruits, I got to know it instantly because they had forgotten to remove the seeds, which did add a bitter note to the drink. But I was quite happy because they hadn’t added any artificial colors or artificial sweeteners.
Overall it’s a reasonable and decent place in HSR for your meals, either with friends or family, it just fits good.
PS: I wanted to rate 5, but deducting one star for the seeds in the orange juice and half a star for masala dosa. So actual...
