This small restaurant was lying on my yet to visit list from a very long time. I forced myself to visit this place one final day. I must say that I stepped in with high expectations having read few of the reviews on this platform. I must say that I came out satisfied but not disappointed. I had been there for dinner and asked for Mutton Biryani. I got it really quick and it was hot and fresh. The service was really quick. The rice was boiled well but the mutton was not. The biryani kind of tasted well when it was hot but it turned out to be a little bland towards the end. I am not sure why this happened to me. Biryani was served with raita and two more gravies which were well made and accompanied the biryani well. All in all, this is a place one should visit at least once to enjoy the old restaurant setting which you will rarely find. Otherwise, the quantity and the quality is worth every...
Read moreThis is one of the places i would suggest you search and go there. Only if you are in the vicinity and want a good noon veg restaurant you can go here. Its not bad. But don't go here with high expectations. Only few of the items are worth trying here. We were disappointed in the keema dry and mutton masala. The mutton masala was very bland. The keema dry was just for small keema balla. Definitely not worth 190 bucks. We knew the biryani was not special, but was ok. The biriyani you get here is similar to the donne biryani. We went there in the afternoon so done if the special dishes were not available. I guess evenings are the best time to visit. They serve only chapati, they don't have roti, phukka or other breads. Also i feel they have increased the prices and also reduced the quantity very much, hence it it not very economical...
Read moreThere's a unique cuisine that comes from the Marathi people of Bangalore. Marathis of Bangalore, you ask? Yes sir. Starting with the Maratha annexation of large parts of Southern India there has been a significant presence of Maratha military and trading communities in Southern Karnataka.
Kollapuri's in Gandhi Bazaar is one of the 'Miltry Hotels' that exemplify this unique cuisine. They have a small menu and of that many dishes would be sold out by the time you get past the queue and snag a table. Once you do get to the table, do order their Biryani (Bangalore style pulao) and definitely order some 'Dry/Fry' items. The Mutton Chops, Pudhina Chicken and Kheema Balls are highly recommended.
Come to Kollapuri's for excellent food, friendly service, cramped seating and an overall experience that is...
