Lazeez Restaurant in Koramangala has garnered a reputation for its mouthwatering Lazeez Rolls, which many proclaim to be the best in Bangalore. However, my recent visit left me with mixed feelings, as the exceptional taste of the food was overshadowed by subpar service and lackluster customer interaction.
Culinary Delight: There's no denying that Lazeez Restaurant has mastered the art of crafting delectable Lazeez Rolls. The flavors burst in your mouth, and each bite is a journey of taste and texture. This aspect of the dining experience truly lives up to its reputation.
Service Woes: Unfortunately, the service at Lazeez Restaurant seems to have taken a nosedive. During my visit, I found that the once-praised service standards had diminished significantly. Servers appeared disinterested and lacked the enthusiasm that one would expect in a restaurant setting.
Lack of Engagement: It's disappointing when the enthusiasm for their own menu is absent from the servers. They seemed indifferent and detached, making it challenging to establish a rapport or gain insights into the dishes. It's a missed opportunity to enhance the overall dining experience.
Unattended Needs: The most glaring issue was the lack of basic amenities like water. I had to repeatedly request water, and despite wanting to order more and seek recommendations, the staff was nowhere to be found. This left me frustrated and impacted my overall dining experience.
Communication Breakdown: Even sharing my concerns with the cashier proved to be a challenge, as the servers were occupied and unavailable to address my complaints. The inability to get my bill without a struggle further dampened my impression of the establishment.
Attitude Matters: Surprisingly, the attitude displayed by the cashier was reminiscent of the servers. It was evident that there was a lack of ownership and pride in their roles. This consistent attitude throughout the staff is concerning, considering the potential the restaurant holds.
While Lazeez Restaurant has undoubtedly earned its culinary accolades, it's crucial for them to address the issues with their service and staff engagement. The fantastic taste of their offerings should not be overshadowed by a disinterested and lackadaisical team. It's my hope that the management takes heed of these concerns and implements changes that align with the high standards the restaurant could achieve. The potential for Lazeez Restaurant to be a true gem in both culinary and service aspects is undeniable, and I look forward to a future visit that reflects this...
Read moreEven before knowing what a Kolkata style Biriyani is, I have been a big fan the Biriyani from Lucky Restaurant in Mumbai. That joy of discovering the big fat potato buried deep inside the Biriyani is not only fun, but a reminder of how cultures across India are very similar. I am from the south & we dare put a potato in our Biriyani. However my mom would never make a Mutton curry without adding a few potatoes, & I believe that’s how an authentic Kolkata style Mutton curry is made as well.
Between my trips to Mumbai (which are not very often) I get the best Kolkata style Biriyani right at home when upon request wifey found the recipe of Lucky on a old edition of times, online. But whenever I speak proudly of this to my Bengali friends, am always given references of great Biriyani’s served in Kolkata & in a few places in Bangalore. {Lazeez} is one such place that tops the list of recommendations.
One fine day, I decided to try them, just to see how close they are to the Lucky Biryani, Mumbai, but most importantly how better it is from what’s served at home.
I know am treading a dangerous territory, however I swore myself to be honest or at least hope wifey never reads this review.
After ordering the Chicken Biryani for a takeaway, I did manage to order an extra portion of the biriyani potatoes.
Now to the verdict, loved the Biriyani, it definitely lived up to the hype it generated & I could truly understand why any Bengali would end up here while missing Home style Kolkata Biriyani. The flavours were subtle, but strong, the chicken wonderfully cooked, the sweetness of the onions permeating through the rice, it was absolute delight to know that you get something as authentic as what I sampled in Lucky, Mumbai.
However, I would still rate the Lucky version and the one made right at home, slightly higher than Lazeez.
But hey, am not going to stop with the Biriyani, there is so much to try along with the Biriyani & a visit is definitely pending with family.
Till then, my quest for a replacement to Lucky, here in Bangalore will continue by trying out other places for that Authentic Kolkata...
Read moreLazeez, located in Koramangala 5th Block, Bangalore, is a North Indian and Mughlai restaurant that serves a range of dishes including biryani, kebabs, and rolls. If you are looking for some food, Lazeez might be a ok visit, although it might not be the best place around. They are good in dishes like the Mutton Pasinda, Kathi Rolls, Tawa Chicken, and Mutton Rogan Josh. These dishes have received rave reviews in the past for their rich flavors and excellent taste. However, some of my friends have told me that the quality of the food has gone down in recent times, which is something to keep in mind. One of the unique features of Lazeez is the Kolkata-style biriyani with potato. While it might not be the most traditional style of biryani, it is definitely worth trying if you are in the mood for something different. Additionally, the rolls at Lazeez are also highly recommended, with chicken and egg being popular options.
Overall, while there might not be anything particularly "wow" about Lazeez, it is definitely a decent place to grab some tasty rolls and North Indian food. However, it is important to note that the quality of the food might be inconsistent, so it might be best to ask for recommendations from the staff...
