There’s something undeniably special about the combination of gelato and coffee—two beloved indulgences that, when paired, create an experience greater than the sum of their parts. Whether enjoyed separately or together as an affogato, the duo is a match made in culinary heaven.

Gelato: Creamy, Flavorful, and Irresistible

Unlike traditional ice cream, gelato is denser, silkier, and more intensely flavored due to its lower air content and higher milk-to-cream ratio. Each spoonful is a burst of rich, natural flavors, whether it’s classic pistachio, dark chocolate, or tangy raspberry sorbetto. The smooth, velvety texture melts slowly, making every bite an indulgence worth savoring.

Coffee: Bold, Aromatic, and Energizing

A well-crafted espresso or cappuccino offers the perfect contrast to gelato’s sweetness. The rich crema, deep roast flavors, and subtle notes of chocolate, caramel, or fruit in a good cup of coffee create a delightful balance. Whether it’s a robust Italian espresso or a silky latte, coffee provides the warmth and complexity that pairs beautifully with cold, creamy gelato.

Affogato: The Ultimate Indulgence

For the ultimate experience, try an affogato—a simple yet luxurious dessert where a shot of hot espresso is poured over a scoop of gelato (typically vanilla or hazelnut). The result? A blissful mix of hot and cold, bitter and sweet, smooth and bold, creating a decadent treat that satisfies on every level.

Final Thoughts

Whether enjoyed separately or combined, gelato and coffee are a timeless pairing that elevates any café experience. The contrast of creamy and bold, cold and hot, sweet and bitter makes it a perfect indulgence for any time of day. If you haven’t tried them together yet, you’re missing out on one of life’s simplest but...

Excellent food and service. Will be a regular here as long as the quality and taste is maintained. I really hope and pray the business does well and thrive. Convey the delight to our chef.

The ambience is great, clean interiors, comfortable seating. The chairs have their rear legs protruding out a bit, minor tripping hazard of not careful, especially for children. Adequate parking for cars and bikes by the street.

The menu is vast, most of the items being vegetarian and a few egg based dishes.

Tried the trip mushroom sourdough pizza, white sauce lassagne and cheese calzone. The pizza and lassagne had good portion size with loads of fresh great quality toppings including black and green olives. The lassagne sauce was spot on with rich creamy cheese flavour. The veggies inside the lasagne were minced finely yet had the crunch of freshness.

The calzone looked great, had great amount of cheese and pull, but the filling seemed lacking.

The ice tea was good both cranberry and peach. The desserts looked great but seemed slightly expensive. Shall be trying them soon.

The wife varieties gelatos looked great, fresh, rich and creamy. We were too full to try.

Highly recommend Melaghrano for an authentic...

Meloghrano is an Italian place located in Banashankari. The place is right on the main road close. The interiors are done very well with colorful ambiance. They even sell gelato. First we tried the Mushroom Wrap which was served with moong dal salad, fries and served with spicy mayo and a yogurt dip as well. The Mushroom wrap had a slight smoky sweet and sour flavour. The yogurt dip was just cherry on the top. Love it!! Next we had the Watermelon Feta Salad. The Watermelons were dipped in balsamic vinaigrette and topped with feta cheese. The salad had too much watermelon juice and they should make sure there is limited juice inside the salad. But the taste was very good. Lastly we had the Spaghetti Aglio e alio pasta. Again the paste was filled with lots of veggies like sundried tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, olives, broccoli, bell peppers and more. The paste was delicious. Loved the fact that I eat so many veggies here!! We even tasted some of the gelato and it was fantastic. Loved the place. Dont miss their Italian spread!
