This used to be an excellent restaurant. Now I can't find a single positive thing to say about it.
We walked in and it was stuffy and warm. Fine, we were early and we understood that maybe they hadn't turned on their air conditioning yet. The waitstaff seemed to be most disinterested at the fact that there was someone in the restaurant. We asked for the AC to be put on, and half an hour later it was still warm and stuffy. On enquiring about it, we were told that the AC was indeed on. It felt as though we were inconveniencing them by asking about it. The plates were greasy (as in, cleaned badly). There was a pair of used chopsticks inside its cardboard cover (replacing them seemed to be quite bothersome for the staff -our apologies, dear staff!) The menu doesn't have any of its old staples anymore (the duck curry and jasmine rice were excellent!), but I understand - menus change. That's not a fault, just an observation.
The food. The food was too spicy (some dishes), and almost completely tasteless. What happened?! You guys used to be excellent! The chicken satay tasted like it had been thawed and thrown on a plate with little attempt to add any kind of flavour. The button mushrooms were admittedly nice, but much too spicy. The Thai fried rice with chili and basil was flavourless. The prawn and olive fried rice was OK. The diced chicken with shitake and water chestnuts - flavourless. Bangkok style pad thai with prawns - OK. The watermelon juice was lukewarm, and made from what tasted like old watermelons. The food also took a long time to serve, especially considering the place was empty. We were the only table there, not surprisingly. For a fraction of the bill, I could have gotten better South East Asian fare from any tiny neighborhood joint.
Really poor experience...
Read moreA terrible experience with a paleolithic menu published across various platforms. The Lemon Tree group must take a strong note of this. I went all the way from Kengeri to celebrate our daughter's birthday by looking up the menu published in platforms like EazyDiner, Dineout and Zomato which boasted about handsome servings of honey glazed pork ribs and various other Pan Asian cuisines involving beef, duck and pork. Alas, when we reached the venue and scanned the QR for the menu, we were greeted with the crude fact that their actual menu had no glimpse of the cuisines that they have advertised on their menu in the other dine in apps. We were informed by a buffoon of a steward in the most incongruous manner that they do not have these. When asked about the reason behind false advertising and misleading menu in dine in apps, the straight faced answer we got was they serve only fish, chicken and prawns. We walked out of the place with the realisation of all that glitters, is not gold. Absolute sham for a dine in...
Read moreFantastic pan-asian food and a most pleasing ambience. Wherever you live im Bangalore, it's worth making a trip to dine here. However, if your idea of asian food is sweet corn soup, egg fried rice and chicken manchurian, keep driving till you hit the nearest Chung wah, cos this ain't your run-of-the-mill Chinese corner resturant It's usually empty on weekdays because of its location (in the Lemon Tree Hotel) but even on a slow day the service and food doesn't disappoint. So many wonderful items to savour here that it deserves multiple visits. It is clear from the very first bite that someone really loves plating those dishes for you. The service from the staff is as good if not better than any top, fancy-smanshy restaurant. (We were served by Puneeth). A romantic getaway, a quiet dinner for one, quality time with the family, a treat for the tastebuds before painting the town red on a Saturday night or a celebratory bash, it's all good here! Unassuming by nature, this is a delightful surprise for...
