Aiyo, listen up! You know the place is gonna be solid when you walk in and spot one of the owners, armed with a Colin spray bottle, wiping down the tables like it’s their personal mission to make everything sparkle. It’s those little touches that make you feel like they care about their food. And their place. But then, there's that one tiny irritant: seeing the wait staff casually grooming inside the washroom, completely oblivious to the customers waiting to use it. Seriously, folks, it’s not that hard to be mindful, no?
But let’s get back to the real reason you’re here: the food! If you’re in Halasuru and you’re craving authentic, lip-smacking Mangalorean grub, Mangalore Pearl is where you wanna be. I’m telling you, it’s like every bite gives you a warm hug from your auntie back home in Mangalore. The kind of food that makes your taste buds do a little happy jig.
First off, the vibe of the place is spot on. Think cozy Mangalorean house, with all the homely feels. Nothing too fancy, just a relaxed, chill atmosphere that’s perfect for tucking into some comfort food.
Now, let’s talk food, eh? The prawn ghee roast? Bappa, it’s unreal. The prawn is fresh, the curry is just the right hit. You’ll be wiping the plate clean with neer dosa or appams, like nobody’s business. Honestly, it’s that kind of dish that you just can’t stop eating, even when you’re stuffed.
And the Prawn Gassi? Don’t even get me started! Big, juicy prawns in a rich, coconutty gravy that’s spicy but not over-the-top. It’s one of those dishes that’ll have you forgetting about everything else in the world and just focusing on the prawn magic. Trust me, you’ll be in a prawn trance.
If you’re more of a chicken person, you must try the chicken aruwal. When you bite into that chicken it its guaranteed that’ll make your taste buds do a happy dance. Seriously, it’s a game-changer.
And of course, there’s Neer Dosa. Thin, soft, and just perfect for soaking up all that curry goodness. You can have it with anything, but I’m personally a fan of pairing it with chicken or fish sukka. Absolute fire. Ditto with the fluffy sanas.
For dessert, don’t leave without trying the bread pudding. My! It’s creamy, rich, and has that sweet nostalgia to it. A perfect end to a Mangalorean feast.
The staff is friendly, they’ve got that warm, welcoming Mangalorean vibe (even if the grooming inside the washroom throws you off), and the food comes in right portions, so you’re definitely leaving with a full belly and a big smile.
Only downside? This place can get pretty crowded, especially on weekends, so be prepared to wait for a table. But don’t let that stop you. If you're craving real Mangalorean food with an extra dose of warmth, Mangalore Pearl is a must visit. Your taste buds will thank you. Promise!

The food is yummy. Service too good. FRESH is the name BEST to express the fish and other dishes.
Each day they have a separate menu. This time we tried their chicken stew with sannas. The sannas were nice fresh and hot. The chicken stew was good not spicy. We ordered squids sukka and pork pepper chilly ....it was yummy only some pork pieces had fat so we had to leave it. Was becoming too oily. We ordered Salomon fish ....tava fry. The masala was good and fish fresh.
Just enjoyed our meal with bread pudding dessert.
The place is very cool. It's on the 2nd floor. There is a staircase to climb up and than you can take the lift to the 2nd floor. The ambience is very good. Very clean place. The washrooms are very clean.
The attendants were very cooperative and helpful. We being Goans, we just loved all the preparations. The fish, prawns and crabs were very fresh and tasty.
We ordered pork Chilly. The masala was just yummy not too spicy. We enjoyed it with sannas. Must try.
Later we tried chicken cutlets. They were nice and crispy and tasty too.
We ordered kingfish rawa fry. It was nice and juicy, the masala was just nice and fried very well.
We also ordered Pomfret (full) tava fry .....mouth watering....
We ordered red rice (boiled rice ...in Goa). It was nice and well cooked not very hard or soft.
The crab curry was very tasty too. There were about 6 pieces of crabs. The crabs were full of flesh.
The prawns and rice dumpings were yummy too. Only we were so full that we could not finish the rice dumpings.
Later we had bread pudding and caramel pudding.
We really had a very good time and enjoyed the food. Five of us. The bill was only Rs 2500/- @ Rs.500/- per head.
Only the fresh lime soda was too sweet but they exchanged and gave us.
The owners are from Mangalore and the preparation was very authentic mangalorean style. Just loved it.

Read moreThis place is ok, maybe if you're mangalorean you'll like it more. I ate here 2-3 months ago, forgot to post a review.
Me and a friend came here for lunch. We ordered neer dosa, sannas, chicken ghee roast, butter garlic prawns, Pomfret tawa fish fry and two kokum juice.
I'm malayali, so mangalorean food is somewhat familiar to what I eat. My friend is from Kolkata, so her tastes are different.
The butter garlic prawns are not on the menu. It's a secret item that you can order if you ask them. It's incredibly delicious and amazing. Both of us loved it, it's an absolute must have.
The Pomfret tawa fish fry is the closest you'll get to local style. It's very very good if you're from Mangalore/Kerala and like pomfret fry, but my friend didn't like it. They have a different way of making fish fry.
The sannas were liked by both of us. I mean I'm not surprised, it's basically the same thing as appam, but smaller and rounder. They use the same batter for both. My friend liked it. It went well with the chicken ghee roast.
The chicken ghee roast & neer dosas : this is what we came here for, I've never had neer doda before, completely new to me and my friend. It was....fine? It was ok with the chicken ghee roast. The ghee roast wasn't amazing, it tasted ok, like a regular chicken curry. Maybe a bit more buttery. I don't know, maybe I expected too much.
The kokum juice was great. Tastes like Jelly but you can drink it. Very sweet, refreshing too.
Overall if you can come here when the crowd is less (12 PM on a weekend) , it's alright. This place gets really crowded for lunch, so if you're coming around 2 be aware it closes at 3 and the line is half an hour...
