Had ordered lunch for my Dad from Roy Hotel, my Dad who has stayed in Kolkatta for 10 years + and loves Bengali Cuisine. I am mentioning this detail here as this review is basis his feedback. Our order was for Masoor Dal, Fried Aloo, Chicken Curry, Rui Curry, Chingri Malaikari and Mishti Doi. He enjoyed the food a lot. The best item was the chicken curry, it was very flavoursome. The spice profile was not intense yet the dish made us want for more. Second best dish was the Chingri Malaikari, usually this dish is prepared in creamy coconut milk sauce however the dish from Roy hotel was not creamy yet was tasty. It had a mild tinge of sweetness in taste which we appreciated. If I would have ordered only the Rui curry, I would have perhaps be delighted with its taste but for me the Rui curry was ok as the Chicken curry and Chingri Malaikari already had won the race. Fried Aloo was very basic like the Indian version of French fries, the only difference being the Aloo were sliced super slim. Masoor dal was very watery for me, but I was told by my Dad that this is how it used to be in Kolkatta dabbas. Mishti Doi came in a small plastic container and ok. I could taste bit of burnt milk in it but it wasnt bad. Overall, if ever I or my Dad craves for Bengali Cuisine, we know where to order from..... Roy...

Read moreThe place seems to be a little misplaced in time, in a high-tech city of Bangalore, you won't find the menu placard here, rather the waiter has meticulously learned the menu by heart and will tell you about the items that are available. You can see a menu chart pasted near the reception, but only the waiter there would be able to validate whether those items are available at the moment or not. I am not a Bengali, but the Bengalis I acquaint tells me that this is the taste you will find in every Bengali household. I personally liked the food and the cordial behaviour of the waiter who kept on serving me making sure that I feel contended before leaving the place. The price are reasonable but a little on the higher side in context of the locality of...
