If I have to say that international fine dining has come of age in Bhubaneswar, then the only restaurant that puts the city in the league of sumptuous and soulful fine dining food culture is this Thai and Oriental food restaurant, Asian Delicacy. If you have not visited this newly opened Thai food restaurant that serves some authentic, soulful and delicious Thai food, then I must say, you haven't really discovered the joy of good food yet. To most of us, who have relished and cherished the taste, flavour and aroma of Chinese food, this Thai and oriental food restaurant takes your dining experience to the next level. To me, I found the Thai food here not only to be out of the world, pampering and overwhelming your taste buds, but a food that thrills your soul and leaving you with an unforgettable experience. The food here is authentic, with condiments, spices and ingredients brought from Thailand to give you the unique taste of Thai food which you will get to eat in the food havens of Bangkok, the same unique taste replicated here in Bhubaneswar in this cozy little restaurant. We started with Chicken Katsu, served with a unique homemade green and a red sauce, a must try as starter, followed by Non veg Pad Thai, an interesting dish of flat rice noodles mixed with shredded chicken and prawn with basil and sprouts, with powdered peanuts and red chilly flakes for seasoning. This was followed by a Thai whole fish dish called Pla Rad Prik, that tasted so heavenly with its Thai condiments, sauces and spices that I found myself munching the fishbones too, and relishing every bit of it. This was followed by a Thai rice dish, Pad Ka Prao, rice cooked with chicken and shrimps along with vegetables like spring onions, and squid and Thai Gai Kung sea food.To talk of the service and hospitality, I have never felt so much at home in a restaurant, the owner, and the chef and the guest attendant executive made me feel at home with their warm hospitality and prompt service. They almost treat and serve you like a family member, which is a unique plus point of this place. The restaurant has moved from its earlier address to another nearby location in Saheed Nagar, which is smaller and cozy with good ambience and lovely music. The dishes are reasonably priced and an elaborate six course lunch for two wasn't at all heavy on our pocket. To sum it up all, the food served here is to die for and if you haven't been here, then you are really missing out the best Oriental fine dining experience in Bhubaneswar. Read moreA cozy little coffee shop-cafe which serves amazing Asian food. As someone who's spent a lot of time traveling in SE Asian countries this kind of satisfied my cravings. The decor is very Vietnamese Coffee Shop but a bit too cluttered, could help taking down some of the stuff which aren't necessary and that opens up a lot of positive space
Now coming to food, the Steamed Fish was freaking amazing. Stuffed with Lemongrass and a lovely lemon sauce - best paired with rice. I missed the sticky rice as they had run out of it. Super fresh seafood too
The Tom Kha was legit great. Just the right amount of sweetness from the coconut milk alongside the paste. The prawns could have been whole instead of blanched ones from earlier to give it a lot more freshness, but I ain't complaining. Scooped up every last bit of it from the bowl
Hainanese Chicken Rice - Honestly I've had countless chicken rice in my life having spent time in Singapore and this comes real close to the original. The rice was perfect (again sticky would have been better...but when in Rome) and could have dialed down the soy. The only disappointment was the chicken itself as they'd used a breast piece and it had dried up and become chewy. If only they shifted to using the thigh. The broth was perfect (again dial down the soy). Maybe get the chilli right coz that's what brings Hainanese Chicken Rice to an elevated level.
Som Tam - Super perfect. Exactly how I've had in the streets of Bangkok. So much umami from the fish sauce. Maybe some crispy shallots or garlic as topping for next time
Walked out a super super happy man and eventually took the time to write this review coz that's how elated I was...
Read moreThe 1st Dish Served to us was, Steamed Fish with Lemon Grass..... The smell of the green sauce was so horrible that I had to ask the waiter wheather it was fresh or rotten. I cannot describe the smell as it was not of a Dish rather some damp, forgotten, cloth in a pit, may be.
The fish tasted okay, but that's because we dared to taste it.
So my advice to others, no matter how convincing the guys seems, please avoid this dish. Anyways then moved on to other dishes.
We had Golden Fried Prawn, which was okay but the prawn was not marinated at all so it was more of tasteless. No salt, no tang nothing.
Then came our main attraction, which was the Crab Dish. I think we order sauteed crab, but yet again the dish was a complete let down.
The crab looked meh... Type, smelled yukki, and tasted I don't know what it tasted. Because there was none. I think boiled potatoes mashed together would have been a better dish.
My take away to anyone who is reading this is that, please avoid and don't get fooled by...
