On a trip to the capital of Odisha – Bhubaneswar, I went in with a determination to be like the locals and try out authentic Odiya cuisine, which I surely did and enjoyed every moment of it ! But when cravings for Dosa hit the roof, it was time to hit the road in search of the same which led me to Dosa Plaza ! And I was in for a treat as it turned out to be a place which is famous for its different variety of dosa’s which includes Chinese fusion, Salad fusion and Mexican style dosa’s ! Perhaps this is what you call the global cuisine in a single dish – of-course there is always an Indian twist to it ! Located in the Patia neighbourhood of Bhubaneswar, it’s a small place very near to the KIIT institute which meant a heaven for the students ! Ambience is simple and seating comfortable. The walls double up as menu as well which works ! There is a TV too for some entertainment ! I was here for a weekend breakfast and was looking forward to try out the variety they had to offer along with a few of my family members. Straightaway went in for something that was mentioned as lite to begin with – the Salsa Lite dosa ! This one had salsa garlic paste, pasta garlic sauce, black pepper, red chilly flakes topped with some spring onions. Definitely unique and did eat well. I had not tried something like this before and was pretty stoked about it – if only they do not mention this as a mexican style and rather give it a different name but pretty happy with it ! After the lite-ness it was time to grab something masaledar and filling and off came the Paneer Crispy Dosa ! This dosa was stuffed with Tawa paneer( cottage cheese) , onions and glazed with hot garlic sauce ! Mexican, Indian or anything else – totally in love with this one ! It was very filling indeed, the paneer stuffing was generous and with all the spices and the sauce – it was party in the mouth. They do serve the dosa’s with Sambar and Chutney – for things like these you don’t need any sides ! With few other folks with me on the breakfast table meant more and different things to try ! One of the order was the simple plain dosa. Regular and simple stuff. Chutney was good but not the sambar or perhaps I am used to the sambar in the southern part of the country !Crispy mini vada’s and Sheera which is basically semolina and saffron cooked in clarified butter made up for the rest of the food experience. Thumbs up on both !After this sumptuous breakfast, all we needed was some coffee. The menu had Madras Filter Coffee and that’s what we opted for. Total disappointment ! It just did not fit into the category of filter coffee and definitely not Madras ! Overall a good experience except for...
Read moreMy recent visit to Dosa Plaza was a mixed bag of experiences. While there were some aspects that I found quite satisfying, there were others that left me wanting more. Let me break it down for you.
Starting with the positives, the ambiance of Dosa Plaza was pleasant and inviting. The restaurant had a clean and comfortable atmosphere, making it an enjoyable place to dine. The decor was tastefully done, and the seating arrangements were well-spaced, allowing for a relaxed dining experience.
Now, let's talk about the food. While the dosas at Dosa Plaza were decent, I couldn't help but feel that the chutney accompaniments were lacking something. A dash of dal and podi (South Indian masala) would have added a much-needed depth of flavor to the chutney. It's a shame that they missed this opportunity to elevate the overall taste of the dishes.
Another aspect that left me slightly disappointed was the price. I found the prices at Dosa Plaza to be on the higher side compared to similar establishments in the area. While I understand that quality comes at a cost, I couldn't help but feel that the prices were not entirely justified, especially considering the overall average experience.
Despite these shortcomings, it's worth noting that the service at Dosa Plaza was prompt and attentive. The staff members were polite and accommodating, ensuring that our orders were taken accurately and promptly. They were also helpful in providing recommendations and answering any questions we had.
In conclusion, Dosa Plaza offers a pleasant ambiance and decent dosas, albeit with room for improvement in the chutney department. While the prices may be a bit steep, the attentive service does add some value to the dining experience. If you're in the mood for a quick South Indian fix and don't mind paying a little extra, Dosa Plaza can be a reasonable choice. However, if you're seeking exceptional flavors or budget-friendly options, you may want to explore other alternatives...

Recently, I had the pleasure of dining at Dosa Plaza Bhubaneswar, and let me tell you, it was a feast for the senses! I specifically tried their Mysore Masala Dosa, Masala Dosa, and Paneer Schezwan Dosa, and each one was a winner in its own right.
The Mysore Masala Dosa was an explosion of flavor. The crispy dosa, perfectly fermented and light, cradled a rich and spicy potato filling that was bursting with Mysore masala goodness. The coconut chutney and sambar that accompanied it were the perfect complements, cooling down the heat and adding another layer of taste.
The Masala Dosa, a classic for a reason, was equally delicious. The simple potato filling was seasoned to perfection, and the dosa itself was beautifully crisp and golden brown. It's a testament to Dosa Plaza's expertise that they can make such a seemingly basic dish taste so good.
For those looking for a bit of a twist, the Paneer Schezwan Dosa is a must-try. The filling, featuring melt-in-your-mouth paneer (Indian cottage cheese) in a Schezwan sauce, offered a delightful combination of Indian and Chinese flavors. The Schezwan sauce had a good kick to it, balanced perfectly by the creamy paneer and the crispy dosa.
Overall, Dosa Plaza Bhubaneswar impressed me with its delicious food, friendly service, and reasonable prices. Whether you're a dosa aficionado or just looking for a tasty South Indian meal, I highly recommend...
