About the restaurant: They don't serve dishes like biryani, pakodas, kebabs, Chinese etc They serve only authentic odia cuisines. They serve one of the best muttons in the town. This hotel has the great mutton thali. For starters, they have odia items like kakara, Manda pitha, Lia pampad.
They have 4 outlets in the town. I have been to three of them.
For the first time I have been to the khandagiri outlet after searching on Google for the best restaurants nearby. My family is vegetarian, we went there on a Christmas day to have something special but my aunt was pretty disappointed by their menu because they only had authentic odia cuisines for a vegetarian person. Although the food was good, our expectations didn't meet.
For the second time I went to the Patia outlet, fully aware of the hotel this time that this is popular for its mutton thali. The food was really great, mutton was hot and delicious, served in all pital plates. Only the water was not really edible as I could smell detergent from the glass. (Food Pictures are added).
For the third time, I took my mamu and others here who were craving a good mutton dish after staying in Canada for 2 yrs. We order mutton thali, veg thali, prawn curry, kakara, Lia badhi, chena jhili. The men were really happy with the mutton thali, the veg people also liked their food. Kakara and Lia badhi were also good. Only the mutton curry was a little cold, it could have been hot.
There aren't many options in dessert either. The price is also a little high but it's...
Read moreLocated at Shaheednagar, Bhubaneswar, I was taken by the cab driver to Odisha Hotel. It is a cozy restaurant with seating arrangement for approx 20 people on the ground floor. This hotel attracts the local crowd as well as visitors like me who wish to taste the authentic dishes of each state. I ordered rice, 'pancho byanjon' (billed as mix bhaja), khasi mangsho jhol, papad and raita. First, the Pancho byanjon' had saag, beans, bitter gourd, pointed gourd and aloo chokha. Each item tasted good. The mangsho r jhol contained 4 decent sized well cooked mutton pieces but the potato in it was half cooked. The taste was amazing. Had to take another serving of rice to be fully satiated. Paying Rs. 352 for the entire food is good enough and value for money. I had gone in to eat fish but I was told that the Rohu is from Andhra. Disappointed. Fresh prawns and crabs were available but decided to ignore due to extreme humid weather. The place is crowded too which basically means that the food is absolutely fresh. The stewards are pressurized to attend to the crowd but they are soft spoken and did not even turn up for tips. Oh, BTW the plates, glass is of brass which is old time. I genuinely liked the food and I wish Odisha Hotel team...
Read moreGot recommended by someone for authentic Odia cuisine but realized extremely hyped place as i walked in with my family. Overcrowd at its peak, with lack of co-ordination among Staffs to cleanliness of chairs/tables. Car Parking a BIG ISSUE near the Restaurant and food is unfairly overpriced comparing to it's quantity. The menu has a list which brings back nostalgic memories of our grandparents' recipes to which one may ignore the price, but in reality the taste doesn't justify the price to even a percent. Especially the Thali has the portion of Rice, which is not even filling an average person's stomach. Once you request for some extra little portion of rice to which one may get a shocker of Rs 40 addition in the bill . If you try in any other restaurant they would happily offer some extra rice without any charges. For my recommendation there are pretty good welcoming restaurants in half of the price of these restaurant's menu. One may go ahead with Chancellor or Tara Tarini which are pretty good in terms of budget as well as food. To me definitely I'm not walking in this...
