Ostra is undoubtedly the best sea-food destination available in the twin cities if not the entire state. The restaurant is situated at bbsr unit 4. Ambience - It is a perfect family restaurant and a perfect place to hang out with friends and colleagues as well. The light, the music and the entire set-up is all very well matched. It has got facilities for private dining as well. Service - these are some of the most friendly waiters that I have ever seen. They literally have a great knowledge about what ingredients go into what recipe and hence can help you chose according to your taste. The best thing about them is that after every dish you finish , they ask you about how the dish was ! I loved their attitude. Preparation time - I would say that the preparation time is regular. Not too fast, neither too slow. The things that can be prepared in less time like the corn and tikka were served before our expected time. But the foods like tuna and oysters take time. But then again it's the way they are cooked that requires time. So not their fault . . FOOD - the BEST part about this place is its food. It serves excellent continental food. It specialises in sea food. If one has an acquired taste for seasoning foods , then this is their go to place. Here is the list of some sea foods they provide - -Around 20 different types of fish including the red snapper , tuna etc. -oysters -mussels -squids -octopus -lobsters -prawns . Not only that, they also provide exquisite chicken and vegetarian dishes as well. The spicy chicken tikka that I tried was awesome. Another notable dish is the Greek salad with sea food toppings. I absolutely loved it. That had to be the dish of the day. For sure. We tried the oysters, tuna , mushroom, seekh kebab, Greek salad, corn, spicy chicken kebab and apart from the tuna being a bit faded in taste, everything was awesome. For those trying for the first time - oysters and tuna are an acquired taste and liking for them developes over time, so taste a little at first and don't order 5 oysters per person. DESERTS. pinna cota - tastes great, looks even better. Mudcake - great taste. ♥️ The ostra special brownie - Has to be the best brownie ever. Loved it thoroughly. That was the cherry on the cake for me. Other points - the place has a live kitchen. A proper and sanitized washroom. Accepts cards and cash. No parking issues. PS - be a bit early or book a table to avoid crowd. 😊 Happy...
Read moreAn awesome place to cherish Sea food love, especially the wild ones like Lobster, Squid, Octopus 🐙 . Cheesy Lobster of them is just awesome, I tried Lobster first time and it was yummm. Squid is kind of really wild, one can feel the wild esssence of this weird creature in the smell n look. If u r not quite crazy don't go for Squid, but Lobster is something u must try for 1500 bucks. Also the Prawn is just tongue-boggling, we took Butter Garlic Prawn and it was one of the best (in taste n softness) of my lifetime. Prawn is a must try here, I found it the best among all of the 10 various dishes we tried here. Crab served to us was kind of ok ok,may be it was the sea crab. It was nowhere around the normal Crab we find in market or at Chilika. But the recipe was just fantastic, I probably have never taken such finger licking Chilly dish ever. We couldn't help but grab every ounce of the crab n especially the sauce/curry. Try the Chilly Crab here nd thank me later. . Time for dessert. Chef's special kheer (with vodka) isa complete waste of Rs190, it was just a orange(it comes inside orange) fill amount, and smells weird tastes alike as well. Pinna cota is quite good both in look n taste, mango custard is different but tasty. Sweet Lime soda at the end also deserve a mention, as I found its really very good with the real essence of Soda unlike other places. Very good dining place, pre-book if you are going at noon at weekend. Price is a bit on the higher side, but the deep sea creatures certainly deserve good rate when cooked such...
Read moreThe dine in experience at this much hyped up restaurant was pretty mediocre. Apart from the dessert there was nothing wow in the other dishes.
Starting with the starters, to my utter suprise the spiced cashew chicken had just raw cashew sprinkled over the cooked chicken. Expected it to find it minced and blended with the masalas. Dissapointing it was! The squid too was stuffed with lot of masalas and didn't tasted that great. Taste of both the dishes was very familiar and seemed like they were prepared with more or less the same masalas. Had very less clue that both the starters would belong to the Chinese cusine.
Anyways, the coconut milk flavoured seafood soup was good but the only dish that did went really well was the dessert, Panna-cotta. A must have dessert if you drop in here.
The menu is pretty huge and leaves often confused of what to order and what's the speciality at this place. Feel like they need to have two menus with one consisting of the dishes that people should really look forward to at Ostra and the rest listed elsewhere. Also getting the service staff a bit trained to suggest the customers on the basis of their taste palaete will be a great help. That way at least the people won't end up having such mediocre experience trying the plentifully available familiar indian chinese cusine available in the city.
Despite this very ordinary experience on the first visit, will definitely visit this place one more time and have some seafood. Hope it...
