Chowman (Baguiati) — Restaurant in Bidhannagar

Am writing this on 1 st of Jan Yes the first day of the year

As any one ll we went to this restaurant As regulars we expected nothing less but same performence

Rather on such of a day where not anything should go wrong or any miss happening to take place

We were surved carcus of a duck ( in the name of ( Mongolian style rosted chilly duck)

Duck season is going on in chowman They surved the left over bones of the duck from which 10 grams of meat or flesh were intact......for the cost of 860 .....not to mention+ taxes......

For such of a hipe of the special menu of duck season.......never the less .... recommendation by the waiter.........they mentioned duck dishes are to be ordered advanced cause they take time to prepare......anyone will expect nothing but good experience....from all the marketing ..........

Everything aside as a non vegetarian who has eaten meat I ll say the dish had unpleaent order with no amount of eadebelness

Hence never try their duck season speciality s......

Chowman....you failed us .......

You failed me........and. ......some of us who ....ll recomend you and ur dishes to friends and ll sincerely look forward for the food ambiance.......disaapoinment is what we received ........

Yes this was a bad dish ......but please try some of the soupe items....they used to be good .........

Well well ... As a first timer I was quite overwhelmed with the prices actually... But even before that , the only Chinese restaurant that I ever visited till now to offer me with the Chopsticks on the table ... I mean that's undoubtedly, distinctively Chinese .

There's a systematic differences between the Veg and non-veg items clearly. The staff behaviour was really to the point and calm .. Also due to a slight dispute in the billing process, got to interact with the manager who was extremely helpful, cooperative and benevolent....

Coming to the food ..... There's nothing that I would like to recommend as such as each and every dish has an unique blend of aroma and spices .... Was lucky to taste one of the items from their Sea Food Festival menu, which u might also try while ur visiting Chowman at that time but besides that ... In case ur familiar with the Chinese dishes and know how it tastes u can order how your tastebud suits you.... But still if you ask me , Do try out their Signature Prawn Balls with sweet chilli sauce in the starter 😩, Sparkling Blueberry in the mocktails and In Main course Oyster Chicken with vegetables and mushrooms and from Noodles - Chowman Special Mixed which personally was my fav .....

Overall the taste was a solid 9.6/10...

We had a disappointing experience at Chowman Restaurant, Baguihati branch, on New Year's Day 2025. We visited during their Duck Festival and ordered a dish recommended by the staff — the “Mongolian Style Roasted Chilli Duck”. Unfortunately, the dish was extremely unpleasant, with just bones, a strong odor, and barely any edible meat. It was completely inedible and far from enjoyable. We raised the issue, and after a long wait, the manager came and offered a 10% discount. However, a small discount of ₹169.50 of full bill amount Rs1695/- ( Plus tax ), dish priced at ₹860 (plus tax) with only 6 pieces (costing approximately ₹143 per piece) does not make up for the experience.
