This place was one of the main highlights of my Diu visit. I went there for dinner on the first day of the trip with a burning itch to finally get my hands on some proper seafood. The ambience of the place is very earthy and cozy. The dining space is adorned with lots of plants and creepers and it really has a homely environment to it. The Chef, Kailash Pandey and their partner helped with the menu and gave a lip smacking dish of fried mackerels and portugese style prawn curry with rice. The smell of the fried fish emanating from their kitchen had me so excited and lowkey gave me that Ratatouille-esque flashback of me waiting for my mum to come with her dish of fried fish for supper. The fish was wonderfully fried, the masala tasted really good and the most important thing, the fish was fresh. The portugese style prawn curry was equally good, although i felt that maybe that curry would go better with kerala style appams instead of rice. Right after my first bite, i had decided that i would be visiting the place again the next day for lunch. I really gotta thank Chef Pandey and their partner for being so gracious enough to have served me with their wonderful food even though I turned up at their place for lunch really late. And again, their food was as appetizing as it was the previous night. The prawn masala was so good. The freshness of the fish and prawns that they use is commendable.
I would recommend this place for everyone who plans on visiting Diu. O'Coqueiro serves outstanding cuisines, and caters to almost every taste palette. And ofcoz this place is a goldmine for people who need to satiate their seafood cravings. The hosts are wonderful people and really makes the place feel like home with their demeanor and ofcoz through the tasty dishes they serve.
I will be visiting this place again, and again,...
Read moreWe went to this place during our Diu visit on 22 Nov 2022. Its a small home based restaurant run by Mr Kailash and Mrs Ina, without much show off (if reading it's name you make a mental picture of a designer restaurant then you'll surely be disappointed). We went there reading reviews on google especially about its Portugese and sea food reviews, with help of Google maps direction. We were taken to the correct place by Google but seeing the locality with very narrow lanes we presumed that Google has again ditched us and we are at wrong place. Then after making few more attempts through other roads we called Mr kailash who guided us to the place. There is no separate parking place available around but on a non busy day you can find parking in nearby lanes. Decor wise place is simple, semi open area with quite a few indoor plants and big trail of money plant (pathos) which gives this place a sweet, simple and relaxing homely feel. Owners only work as all staff and are pleasant people to interact. Food is prepared fresh and this may take some time. We had ordered a Portugese vegetable curry dish which was tasty and spicy and really aroused our taste buds. Quantity of rice and curry was sufficient for one and a half person. Prawn pasta was also sumptuous and filling with lots and lots of prawns. Though coffee did not meet our expectations like other dishes. One issue which can be there is mode of payment as owner only accepts cash and in very rare circumstances they accept UPI payments. Toilets are also clean and hygienic. If you are visiting Diu it is recommended that you visit this place...

The Owner cum Chef Mr. Pandey here runs the show.
