The Ambience
The Patiala Kkitchen is dressed up like a Patiala lane . From traditional patiala’s colourful chunnis, parande , bangles, kites, manjas, charkhis and Patiala map on the wall to the awesome 3D graffitis to the soothing punjabi music all of it celebrates the rich culture, lively streets and the happy side of Punjab. The ground floor has proud punjabi slogans all over the wall and the top section represents the patiala street. The male toilet has a sign board “Gabru” and the femaie one has “Mutiyaar. There is a smoking zone as well appropriately named “SUTTA"
The two floor restaurant is a welcome change in the time of village themed punjabi restaurant having dimmed sad lights.
It is refreshing to visit a new restaurant, specially in Sector 18 where there is a flood of cafes.
The Food
Going to a place having such happy ambience definitely increases your appetite.
They continue to bring vibrant and rich colours in their food too. Starting with two different kind of chutneys - one with a flavour of pudina, curd and dhania and the other dark green with dhania and pyaz flavour. Along with the onions they also serve a very tangy mango pickle which will give you an idea what is coming next.
The royal menu here has really interesting dish names. “Pind de bharwan alu” , Chittey (white) dahi de kebab, “Bauji de chicken seakh kebab, “MURGH HAYE TAUBA" to “punjabi bhatti murgh” every dish invites you to test your taste buds.
From the starters the show stopper will be definitely “KINGS MUTOON CHAAP” having silky smooth mutton ribs coated with subtle massales just right that will give you a “Jannat ka ahsas”.
“Bhatti Chicken is your crispy tandoori chicken and Sekh kebab has a cheese and butter coating which makes it interesting.
From the main course I liked the “ Makhmali Malai Kofta” and "Murgh Lababdar”. Murgh makhni and chicken curry (Chicken di Subzi) can be comparable to any other good restaurant.
"Bheja Fry” was mouth watering and has a very creamy texture to it.
From the dessert menu i would recommend the desi ghee ka mung ki daal ka halwa. Its very rare that i go to a restaurant to have sweets but having it here at The Patialla Kkitchen was different. I think they should promote it more.
I remember going to pizza hut and ringing the bell outside to show love to their food. Here we have the PUNJABI version “A Dhol”. You can play the Dhol to show your love to the restaurant.
The Staff
the owners are checking everything as they want to perfect the experience of their customers. I loved the way they got involved in the food tasting and staff training process. I talked to the young owners and they were too happy to take any (good or bad) feedback from me. I would like to give them extra rating for their passion for improvement.
I would recommend The Patiala Kkitchen to the people who just not only eat but...
