In 2011, I first had their Biryani at their small Biryani outlet which was between Okhla head and Batla House. However, they gained their popularity soon because of their Biryani and opened a restaurant near Okhla Vihar metro station. Let me be brutally honest with the review.
Location: As per their location, it is way way too expensive. They don’t offer any parking as well you have to park your vehicle besides an open drainage full of smell. The restaurant itself lies on the compact lanes of Okhla.
Food: Some of their food tastes good, but most of the time I had been to their place have been a big disappointment. Last time when we ordered mutton gravy (lal maas), the mutton was not at all cooked. It was too raw to eat. Upon insisting multiple times they just replaced the “boti” with Nihari’s “boti”.
A few days later again when we ordered mutton gravy; no “boti” had a proper meat; again that was a big disappointment (haddi-guddi-charbi wala piece).
Recently, we ordered their chicken Biryani which costed us ₹650/- (for a very small portion). This dish was totally a disaster. Something, that was their USP had failed miserably. Firstly, the pieces of chicken were too tight, and the Biryani (so expensive) was not at all warm. It seemed like they are serving the stale cooked biryani.
Service & Hospitality: I won’t say that the bearers are rude, but the managers, they rather than redressing the grievances, starts blaming the cooks and bearers in front of you (which is so embarrassing). They are all the way making excuses of different types rather than accepting the mistakes/mismanagement.
Price: As mentioned earlier, this restaurant is way too expensive. Imagine selling a Khamiri roti at ₹60/- + taxes. That too in small lanes of Okhla where even parking is not available. They provide you with Vedika water which is again ₹60/bottle. They don’t even allow you to get your own water bottle from outside (gundagardi nahi to aur kya hai ye).
Overall, today it was totally disappointing for me to visit this restaurant with my wife. We both have pledged not to visit again. I would request the viewers to go to better restaurants in the locality.

Read moreIf you’re craving authentic Mughlai cuisine, Al Nawaz Restaurant is a must-visit. This place delivers on both taste and ambiance, offering a dining experience that feels like a step back into the grandeur of the Mughal era.
Food & Taste
One of the standout dishes at Al Nawaz is their Kadhai Chicken—rich, flavorful, and cooked to perfection with a thick, aromatic gravy that pairs beautifully with their freshly made naans or tandoori rotis. Every bite bursts with a perfect balance of spices, making it an absolute delight.
Another personal favorite is their Biryani—fragrant, well-cooked, and packed with authentic Mughlai flavors. The long-grain basmati rice, tender meat, and the perfect blend of spices make it one of the best biryanis I’ve had. It’s a little on the pricier side, but the taste justifies every penny.
Their Mughlai cuisine in general is quite impressive, with dishes that are rich, creamy, and packed with traditional flavors. Whether it’s their kebabs, curries, or tandoori items, each dish is crafted with authenticity.
Ambience & Service
The ambiance is another highlight—it has an old-world charm with Mughal-style decor, intricate designs, and a cozy yet regal feel. It’s a great spot for a quiet, relaxing meal where you can truly enjoy the flavors without too much noise or rush.
The service is quite decent, with attentive staff ensuring that your meal experience is smooth and enjoyable. They take their time preparing the food, which indicates freshness, but it’s definitely worth the wait.
Pricing & Overall Experience
Yes, the prices are slightly on the higher side compared to regular Mughlai joints, but considering the quality, taste, and portion sizes, it feels justified. It’s not a place for a budget meal, but for an indulgent, flavorful experience, it’s one of the best options.
Final Verdict
If you love Mughlai food, Al Nawaz is definitely worth a visit. Their Kadhai Chicken and Biryani are top-notch, the ambiance is warm and traditional, and the food quality is excellent. While it may be a bit expensive, the authentic flavors make it one of my favorite places for Mughlai cuisine. Definitely...
