Mithai Cottage — Restaurant in Delhi

We had passed by Mithai Cottage several times, and we vaguely thought of visiting it one day. It used to look specially lovely in the night, with warm light and a bright environment visible from the glass door as we passed it.

So one day, we actually stopped to visit Mithai Cottage. It was lovely from the word go. We found it very endearing, with its spacious, well lit interiors with spaced-out tables and attractive wall graphics. The menu was nice and wonderful, and a refreshing change from what you get at Haldiram or Bikanerwala. The friendly prices also added to the delight - I personally think that they prices they have kept are actually below what they deserve, so that becomes something special for you.

We tried gol-gappas and they were awesome. The red soonth ki chutney was better than what we have had anywhere else - it was thick, and had chhuaraa, pepper and musk-melon seeds. The green and red water was superb too - fresh, tangy and visibly of very high quality. The aloo-mix that came alongwith was no simple affair - it had mashed potatoes with coriander, spices and other such things. We also had grilled cheese sandwiches, which were simply amazing. The samosa chaat served with chhole was a mega treat in itself.

Service is extremely slow. Staff is very rude and inconsiderate. By the time they serve you chapatis, the food gets cold as it takes them 30Mins to serve add on order. The owner seems disinterested to hear any complaints. The billing time is 45mins.. no one in the staff is trained to swipe a card. Mithai cottage is a bakery plus restaurant. It’s mainly a family type place. It has a great sitting and a colourful view. The food is quite delicious. My must try’s for the place are white sauce pasta and chilli garlic chowmein. The service is very quick and the staff is also very kind.
