Found this place on Zomato while I was craving to eat good Fish Thali in Dombivli. On the occasion of my birthday and me and my family visited Gomantak Sagoti. Do read till end, this is going to be a detailed review. . In the very first look you'll feel it is small place with really cozy and soothing ambience with mesmerizing aromas of Fish Fry. Talking about the food, being Konkani I have travelled along the coast many times and had variety of fish thalis at different places starting from Mumbai - Alibaug to Amboli - Sawantwadi. But what we had here was really an amazing experience, the proper marination of fish with KOKAM or AAGUL those who are from coastal areas can relate with me in this. We ordered Pomfret Thali, Surmai Thali and Prawns Masala Thali. . Pomfret Thali - One of the best I ever had till date in my entire life, you will get huge nicely masala marinated and crispy shallow fried pomfret which was so tender and juicy inside along with Fish Curry, Thecha, Crisp Malvani Vade, Basmati Rice and Sol kadi. (Highly Recommended). . Surmai Thali - This one was also best Surmao Thali's I ever had. The fish was tender, nicely marinated and shallow fried as well, you'll get a Nicely marinated shallow fried fish and tender, Malvani Wade, basmati rice, fish Curry, thecha, sol kadi (Highly Recommend). . Prawns Masala Thali - Trust me you should definitely try this one out here, a small portion of prawns masala, some marinated fried prawns, fish curry, thecha, basmati rice and sol kadi. This is a party pack of all the masalas where you can get the actually the authentic taste of coastal masalas which will make you to lick your fingers😋. . Overall it was one of my favourite and best deal to have in Dombivli with such authentic flavours and why I mentioned everything in detailed like basmati rice, malvani vade because nobody provides you such things especially when you'll have Thali Highly recommended place. Going to visit again❤️ . Thank...
Read moreDear Gomantak Sagoti Team,Your response to my genuine feedback is not only dismissive but also shockingly unprofessional. Let me set the record straight: this wasn’t my first visit to your establishment. I’ve dined at your earlier setup as well and the decline in quality and transparency is glaring. Charging ₹850 per pomfret thali—per plate, not shared—is exorbitant and unjustified, especially for the mediocre food and service provided. The additional ₹40 for a tiny bowl of gravy only adds insult to injury.Your claim of “standard rates” and “fresh food” doesn’t hold water when the menu lists a confusing price range of ₹599 to ₹1,299, leaving customers guessing. This isn’t a stock market where daily price fluctuations are acceptable; customers deserve clear pricing. Your suggestion that I should have asked about “today’s price” or checked the menu more thoroughly is absurd—transparency is your responsibility, not mine. And implying that I shouldn’t dine out with family if I find your prices steep is outright condescending. For your information, we operate bars and restaurants across multiple cities in Western Maharashtra and deal extensively with government officers in this business. We understand the industry inside out, so please don’t lecture me on dining etiquette or pricing. Your response shows you’re too new to this setup to grasp the value of customer feedback. Instead of deflecting, take accountability for your overpriced offerings and lackluster experience. Genuine customers like me will continue to call out such practices, and I urge you to be mindful of how you address honest reviews moving forward.Sincerely, CA...
Read moreThe worst dining experience ever!
I visited this restaurant with my wife and 1-year-old child on a Wednesday evening around 7:30 PM, hoping for a pleasant meal. We opted for the AC section on the first floor. Upon arrival, the waiter asked about the number of guests, and since we were just two adults and a small child, he directed us to a cramped two-seater table near the stairs. Finding it uncomfortable, we requested a four-seater table, as we noticed other couples occupying similar ones. We even mentioned that we were willing to wait.
When we finally found a vacant four-seater and sat down, we were shocked that no one came to take our order or offer any hospitality. Instead, a waiter approached us and rudely asked us to move back to a two-seater. We pointed out that other couples were seated at four-seater tables, but instead of providing a reasonable explanation, he insisted that we get up and move.
Frustrated, we went downstairs to speak with the hotel manager, only to have an even worse experience. He unapologetically stated, "We care more about table count. We can't keep a group waiting while you occupy a big table instead of a small one… service is secondary." He also mentioned that they don’t have a reservation policy.
This was by far the most disappointing and humiliating experience at a so-called "popular" restaurant where people queue up to dine. If customer service and basic hospitality mean nothing to them, they don’t deserve your visit. Avoid this restaurant at all costs!
Instead visit Tendulkar's and Dubai Darbar for best service and food quality on the next lane 2-3...
