We visited House of Makeba on Women’s Day, expecting a great dining experience, but unfortunately, it did not live up to the hype.
Food & Beverages: • Amritsari Tacos – The presentation was appealing, but the portion size was too small for the price, and the taste was average. • Mexican Platter – Disappointing presentation with a small serving size. • Mocktails – Overpriced and nothing extraordinary; similar to what you’d find in any standard restaurant. • Tiramisu Shake – One of the few highlights of the meal; well-made and enjoyable. • Main Course (Paneer Dish & Tandoori Roti) – The paneer dish was better than the starters, but the rotis were just average. One of the friend ordered pasta as well which was again an average one
Service:
Despite the occasion, the service was quite poor. The waitstaff was unprofessional and inattentive, making it difficult to get assistance when needed. Additionally, the manager (or a senior staff member) was arrogant and lacked basic customer service etiquette.
Ambience:
The restaurant’s ambience was underwhelming. The walls were plain, with minimal decor, making it far from an Instagram-worthy spot. The only decorated wall was not accessible for photos if diners were seated there. The space felt cramped, with tables simply arranged in a straight line, lacking any thoughtful layout.
Overall Verdict:
Considering it was Women’s Day, we expected a better experience, but House of Makeba turned out to be an overhyped restaurant that fails to deliver on food quality, service, and ambience. With average food, poor service, and an unappealing dining environment, it does not justify its pricing. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend it.

From the moment I stepped in, I was welcomed with the warmest smiles and genuine hospitality. The staff here are not just attentive, but truly caring — making sure every little detail is perfect without ever being intrusive.
The ambiance instantly set the mood — a beautiful blend of elegance and comfort, with soothing lighting and tasteful décor that makes you feel both pampered and at home. It’s the kind of place where time slows down, and you just want to sit back and savour every moment.
Now, the food — absolutely outstanding! Every dish was cooked to perfection, presented beautifully, and bursting with fresh, rich flavours. You could taste the love and skill in every bite. The ingredients were clearly top quality, and the balance of spices and seasoning was just right.
The service was impeccable — prompt, polite, and with a personal touch that made me feel like a valued guest rather than just a customer. The staff’s behaviour was commendable — friendly, respectful, and genuinely happy to serve, which added so much to the overall experience.
This restaurant is a gem — a place where food, ambiance, and service come together in perfect harmony. I left not just with a happy stomach, but with a happy heart.
Highly recommend it to anyone who wants an experience that feels special from...
Read moreWe recently visited this place after hearing good things, but the experience was really disappointing. As soon as we entered, the staff started arguing with us over seating and eventually made us sit at a corner table just to prove a point. The menu is quite expensive, yet the food quality is extremely poor.
We ordered pasta (₹500), but it tasted no better than what you’d get at a roadside stall oily, undercooked, and spicy was the only flavour they had. Additionally the portion size was so less, it is not enough for 1 single person.
The staff were arrogant and unhelpful throughout, they do not even have serving etiquette. Moreover they all kept staring at us and discussing something among themselves laughing inappropriately. Seemed like they had nothing else to do they all stand together in a corner and make their guests uncomfortable. Makeba claims itself to be “classy” place only if they could train their staff to be even close to holding that title.
We had expected a much better experience but ended up leaving disappointed and unsatisfied. Definitely not worth the hype...
