I have been a regular patron of this restaurant, but unfortunately, my recent visit was a deeply disappointing experience that compels me to share this feedback.
We placed an order worth approximately ₹1200, which included Plain Idli, Vada, Cheese Masala Dosa, Rava Masala Dosa, and Plain Dosa. The Cheese Masala Dosa had an unusually sour and off-putting taste, which we initially assumed might be due to the cheese. However, upon tasting the Rava Masala Dosa, we realized the filling itself—specifically the potato—was spoiled.
We immediately brought this to the attention of the manager present at the counter, who acknowledged the issue and agreed that the potatoes were indeed not up to standard. As you can see in the attached bill, the manager himself noted the problem with the potato filling—this is not just my claim but something even they officially acknowledged.
We requested a refund only for the Rava Masala Dosa (which was untouched), and at first, the manager agreed. However, a senior staff member subsequently intervened and not only denied the refund but also behaved rudely and dismissively.
Despite our calm and respectful behavior, we were made to feel as though we were being unreasonable. Shockingly, the manager even offered to transfer the refund from his personal account—a gesture that, while appreciated, reflects poorly on the establishment's formal policies and customer-first attitude.
This kind of customer service is unacceptable, especially when the fault lies with the kitchen. Instead of acknowledging and resolving the matter professionally, the staff attempted to deflect responsibility. During this exchange, two other customers overheard the conversation and walked away without placing an order—clearly unsettled by what they witnessed.
I urge fellow customers to be cautious. Visit if you wish, but please check the quality before placing an order. It is disheartening to see such disregard from a place we support with our hard-earned money. At no point should any customer feel that they’re being done a favor by the very businesses they...
Read moreVedantam restaurant is very well done and shows good ambience from outside. Once inside the experience changes dramatically. First, it’s a pay first and self service place, so forget fine dining. It is like a fast food joint.
My wife and I ordered Dosas of different kinds. While ordering, I was asked: “Sunflower Oil or Ghee?” I opted for the latter. The Dosa was for Rs. 255 and another Rs. 33 was added for the Ghee. A first for me. So, a dosa there cost Rs 288, a bit steep compared to much more popular South Indian eateries in Delhi NCR.
The surprise came when I collected the order. My Dosa was smaller than a 6 inch pizza. (See the pic and compare the size with the bowl of Sambhar and paper cup for water) When I asked the person in the kitchen, he said it looks small because it’s folded. Wow! What an explanation. I opened the “folded” dosa but that made almost no difference to its size.
And the people at the serving counter, especially the one I was speaking to, was rude, arrogant and ill behaved. He did not know how to speak to a customer, more so, a person in his late 50s.
We had already paid so had to accept whatever they were giving.
The dosa did not taste like an authentic South Indian Dosa at all and the Sambhar was well, some kind of liquid.
I was more surprised because the dosa did not come with the customary White Coconut Chutney. Instead they gave a green chutney which also had coconut in it.
Came back with a bad impression and one of the worst experiences in dining out. It hurt more because it was our landmark wedding anniversary.
The only bright spot was the filter coffee which was pretty good and the person making it, Vishnu, was not only extremely polite but also extremely helpful. When I told him I was lactose intolerant so he should put less milk in my coffee, he said: Sir, I will make you a fresh Black Coffee. My thanks to him. And the coffee was indeed very good, the only reason to go back to the restaurant, if...
Read moreUgh, do I even begin with this place? "ajeeb khaana" is an understatement. Absolutely tasteless! It felt like they forgot to add any seasoning whatsoever. And the environment? Totally weird. To top it off, the owner was having a full-blown argument with the staff – super unprofessional and made the whole experience incredibly uncomfortable. "VV bad food" doesn't even cover it. The service was just as poor, slow and inattentive. Honestly, the taste has completely gone "kharaab hogya," ruined! Save yourself the disappointment and steer clear. Definitely "wont recommend" this place to anyone. The aloo bonda? Forget "bonda," it was more like an "aloo bomb"! This massive, dense thing landed on my plate like a football of pure hopelessness. Seriously, it was huge and just...sad. Then came the dosas. Oily doesn't even begin to describe them. They were practically swimming in oil and had this really strange, off taste that I can't quite put my finger on, but definitely not good. And the dahi bada? Might as well have been air. It was as good as nothing, completely bland and forgettable. The only slightly redeeming thing, and I use that term loosely, was the sambar, which was just...average. Utterly, completely average in a sea of culinary disasters. Still stand by it – won't recommend this place if...
