Absolutely splendid! Tucked away in the charming lanes of Mala-Panjim, this place is a culinary gem that you simply cannot miss. If you're a fan of meat, this spot is a must-visit. While I had previously savored the delights of North Eastern cuisine, with its classic fermented bamboo shoot pork dishes, I decided to skip that acquired taste this time and opted for the Pork Momos, which were nothing short of extraordinary.
The Shillong Style Prawns stole the show with their exquisite preparation. Cooked to perfection, they boasted the ideal balance of texture and juiciness. The accompanying masalas for each dish were spot on. Don't miss out on pairing their delectable curries with the indigenous Assamese Joha Rice. We went for the Sunday pork curry, and its flavors harmonized perfectly with the rice.
A special shout-out to the owners Monalisa Baruah and Saurav Parashar, both from Guwahati and the staff for their commendable efforts. Saurav personally kept track of every customer, engaging with us and sharing the fascinating journey behind their North Eastern cuisine. Kudos to a memorable...
Read moreFinally went to this quaint little place @soulchefgoa located in the beautiful lanes of Fontainhas to try the wonderful North Eastern cuisine. And it was indeed a feast from the east as promised.
I will highly recommend all the 3 wonderful things that I tried Mushroom in black sesame which is basically north eastern take on stir fried mushrooms.
Pork chops in bhut jolokia sauce and jaggery which had that brilliant spicy jhatka that we like balanced perfectly with that jaggery served with a traditional mashed potato. Anyone who loves some spice in their food this is what you need to order.
Lastly tried the chicken thukpa which was rich flavourful soup having noodles, lean chicken and veggies which is a meal in itself.
Really wanted to tey their chorizo momos as well but they had already sold out. Due to covid they have only a single table outside but they do give deliveries and are available on swiggy and zomato. And the owners informed us that they are soon moving to a bigger place. If the food is as good as it was then I'm definitely in for...
Read moreSoul Chef is a quaint, little restaurant. They have seating inside and are open for dine-in, takeaway and delivery. I went there for an early dinner and had the Pork momos (they only have steamed and no option for fried), Bhoot jolokia spiced chicken wings and lemon iced tea. I was disappointed that the lemon iced tea seemed to be the readymade kind (150 is too steep for something like Lipton) and not brewed by the restaurant itself. The pork momos were succulent and really nice. 6 pieces for 250. They were served with a hot sauce and chilli oil -- both excellent. And I found the wings nice but dry. The meat had overcooked in my opinion. The vibe of the restaurant is really nice. The tables, decor, music, lighting all contributed to a nice ambience. I overall enjoyed my dinner there and look forward to going back again. They also do inhouse gelatos at 150...
