Bloom & Brew — Restaurant in Goa

Had the most ridiculous experience here. Even as we got in the waiter took 15 mins to come to us while asking him to many times. He kept walking away to talk to other staff members. One guy at the bar looked embarrassed as we were calling his colleague so many times. There were 6 of us and we wanted to order one thing off the kids menu. We were Flat out refused . We did ask to speak to the manager as we did order other things but we wanted that one thing from the ‘kids menu’. She said she can’t as it’s restaurant policy just like some restaurants have a dogs menu and that can’t be served to humans so a kids menu can’t be served to adults. I retorted to her saying that example is bizarre as dogs food is not fit for human consumption while kids food should be fit for human consumption. To which she again replied that she has 3 dogs and they are like her children so it’s a valid example. The manager was rude and completely unprofessional. The waiter was rude and unprofessional. He took 10 mins to even take our order and was just standing around. Had a wonderful experience at bloom and brew was thrilled to discover a cute aesthetic restaurant serving healthy food in Assagao, Goa. From the moment I stepped through the door, I was struck by the charming decor, which featured a mix of natural wood accents and bright pops of color.

But as much as I loved the ambiance of the restaurant, it was the food that really stole the show. Landed up at the cafe by chance in the middle of Dec ( peak tourist rush ) & was pleasantly surprised with the genuine service, aura and the quality of grub besides the coffee which is what was on mind when we stepped in.

To start with; the owner ( who says he only helps his fiancée ) helped park my car; was greeted with smiles as I walked in. The lady help serve recommended dishes; brought in an ashtray seeing a pack in my hand, helped the elderly decide on their food and even went out of the way portioning it for their convenience. Now this isn’t something one just learns at culinary school; it’s compassion from within and the eagerness to spread joy. When it came to billing; I asked if I could add a tip online and she even pointed out at the service charge and said that’ll complicate the tally and I had anyway paid a service charge and then thanked me.

A point to note here is that; this being peak tourist season and them being unaware of us living in the same colony; we were not treated as a sheer number and service was top class for a walk in that they could easily not see repeat the place. Full marks to all who manage this...
