Caravela beach resort is located on the varca beach.
Few highlights -
1- The resort is massive spread around 20+ acres, and is very clean. 2- The garden view rooms have bath tub. 3- The pool area is clean with ample pool beds. 4- Everyday resort organizes some activities which keeps the guests occupied. Few are paid activities - tambola, glass painting, canvas painting. 6- There is a private beach and is hardly 3-4 minutes walk maintained. The resort has its private beach beds and its beach side restaurant is also there. (having a neatly maintained beach bed area is its usp-as many resorts having private beach don't have that) 7- There are ample restaurant serving different cuisines. 8- The staff is highly courteous. 9- The resort has many insta (photo friendly points). My best would be the hilltop which has very good seating arrangement and beach beds from where one can enjoy beautiful view of varca beach. Though the entire staff with whom we interacted were very welcoming, yet a few deserve a special mention-
A-At cafe cascada and lanai- Chef somesh and jesuraj were extremely helpful as they catered to fasting food for my navrtri fasts. At the time of departure - Chef Somesh and Rajeev ensured that i had smooth take away of my fasting food.
A big thanks to Paradip, aman, gorakh, mayank, pooja antika for being extremely welcoming and loving to our 5 year old son.
They ensured that our taste buds are treated in the best possible way! Aman and gorakh were an absolute delight to my son.
Pranata was always smiling whenever she enquired for our room.
B- Deepika and josyln too were very warm and kept our little one engaging at activity center by different activities. Even, i learnt towel origami from them.
C-Jharna at the beach front restaurant was very welcoming and ensured we had our finger food while enjoying the sun set.
D- The house keeping staff, guys at pool and buggy guys were very prompt in extending their services whenever needed.
E- All the staff members at spa were very cordial in arranging the slots for masaage. Deepamani did a fantastic massage. Highly recommended.
F- Anooj and rest other at front office were prompt in check in and checkout.
G- The complimentry photograph by vsnapu sealed the trip with a beautiful memory.
Though caravela has given us so many wonderful cherishable moments with its beauty and extremely polite and warm staff members, but i certainly feel there are very few but important areas of improvement -
1-At this tariff, i feel room needs to be better in terms of infrastructure (there should be some exhaust fan/ceiling fan to ensure proper circulation of air). I could always feel some dampness.. The house keeping staff were always prompt but i feel a fan is much needed.
2- (My personal view point) - At activity centre, i feel games like PS/TV or any screen time should be avoided. A kid of 5-6 years will always be distracted to the screen which defeats the purpose of holidaying or connecting with the surroundings. Rather there should be kids book which kids or their parent can read to them.
Nevertheless, had a wonderful stay at caravela. Will come...
Read moreOur stay at Caravela Beach Resort in South Goa was a mixed experience, with the resort falling short in several key areas. Despite its beautiful beachfront location, the resort’s overall quality and service did not meet the expectations of a 5-star establishment.
The rooms at Caravela Beach Resort were average and left much to be desired. There was a noticeable smell of dampness, even in the bedding, which significantly detracted from the comfort level. Additionally, the property is quite old, and there are no lifts, which can be inconvenient, especially for families and elderly guests.
The resort offers very limited amenities, especially considering its 5-star rating. There are no extra amenities that stand out, and the kids’ zone is particularly disappointing. With only two hard toys available and no books or other engaging activities, it’s clear that this area needs significant improvement. Most activities, even for children, come with a hefty price tag.
The dining experience was a major letdown. The complimentary breakfast was very average with the same limited options every day, showing no variety or change in the menu. Dinner options were similarly repetitive and uninspiring. Adding to the frustration, the resort charges for cutlery in room service, which feels excessive. Overall, the food was overpriced and did not match the quality expected at a high-end resort.
Service at the Caravela Beach Resort was another area where the experience fell short. The high pricing for food and activities was unjustified given the lack of quality and variety. The overall ambiance suggested that the resort caters primarily to corporate and group bookings, which may contribute to the mixed crowd and inconsistent service quality.
Apart from the clean and vast beach, there were no noteworthy activities. The resort’s failure to provide engaging and reasonably priced activities for guests, especially children, is a significant drawback.
Overall Experience:
Overall, our stay at Caravela Beach Resort was very average. The resort fails to live up to the standards of other 5-star properties such as Hyatt, W, or Taj. Those who have experienced true luxury resorts will find this one lacking in many aspects. The only redeeming feature is its clean beach and spacious grounds. For the price, guests can find much better...
Read moreWe had a great time at the Caravela Beach resort. We have mostly good things to say about the resort. ||Couple of not-so-good experiences which they need to work on |a) The swimming pool staff - were extremely rude. When you take pool towels, the guys there in a very rude manner tell you to return the towels back to them. The way they make it sound you cannot even go back to the room shower and then return the towels. Secondly, they have a snooker/ pool table. There were a few foreign guests playing. The pool staff made them stop citing 30 mins time was up, and then the staff started playing! Also the swimming |b) Billing - their software has a lot of issues, so make sure you spend time going thru the bill on check out. We had many errors and ended up spending more than a hour getting it sorted out. ||Apart from the above, the staff were EXCELLENT at the restaurants, room-service and house-keeping. They were super courteous, always attended to our needs and requests. The housekeeping staff, Fatima, attended to us and kept our room clean and tidy each day. At the Lanai restaurant, Antika & Mayank were always there from breakfast, till dinner time. We had a good experience at the Castaway restaurant with Vaibhav. ||The food in all the restaurants was amazing, we tried all the different types and everything was great. From burgers, to biryani and Goan fare was awesome. Only complaint is there was no pork or beef dishes on the buffet spread. We didn't expect much sea food considering it was the monsoons, but some more pork dishes which Goa is well known for would have made it up. ||The A-la Carte menu is very limited, they are geared more towards the buffet. ||The resort is right on the beach, a short 3-4 min walk and you're on the beach. Lots of beach to walk around Or just chill in the beach chairs. We were there in the monsoon so it was mostly raining. We didn't mind, enjoyed the rain and bumming, just couldn't get in the sea. We did spend a lot of time in the pool though,...
