I remember visiting this restaurant several months ago on a recommendation from a fellow local parish priest. The restaurant seemed nice overall; however, it's not family- or couple-friendly. We went there as a family but felt a little off due to the dull ambiance. There were many locals around the restaurant, which was a nice change from the overcrowded tourists in the area.
We took a seat indoors, and the place was actually a mess. It felt like entering one of those poor, underdeveloped slums of Mumbai for a second while trying to find a place to sit. They have outdoor seating too, which most people prefer. The food wait time was average, although it could be faster. During our visit, hardly anyone was there, yet it still took about 15 minutes to serve us.
The food was average as well. However, if you're a Goan looking for a thali and seafood, the dishes do seem above average at least. The ambiance of the restaurant is absolutely dull, and you feel hot despite having their slow fans turned on. We had to reach for the dirty windows to get some fresh air. Visiting this place during summer is an absolute bummer.
The usual patrons here are local drunkards; other than that, they may get a trendy crowd for takeouts. Their servers are alright with their service—basically what you can expect from an average local restaurant in India. Don't expect anything fancy here; it’s okay for...
Read moreI visited Silver Star Restaurant in Arambol to try their fish thali and opted for Pomfret, Chanak and King Fish. The thali was flavorful and satisfying, but something subtle was missing in the taste to make it exceptional. While the overall experience was good, I was a bit disappointed with a couple of things.
They had promised a discount but didn’t honor it, which felt misleading. Additionally, they charged extra for cigarettes, which wasn’t transparent upfront. Despite these minor issues, the food was enjoyable, and it’s still worth a visit for seafood lovers. A little improvement in service and honesty would make this a...
Read moreNo nonsense dhaba kind of place. Fish thali served with two tandoori rotis in addition to a bowl of rice. The tandoori chicken is juicy and delicious. However the birds are small. Service intends to be polite and efficient. Some dishes are delicious, some are surprisingly just average or under like the chicken lollipop which lacks flavor. I ordered a chicken dry masala dish once and the pieces of chicken were more bone. I can't offer it a 4 star because of this and the fact that the dining area is...
