The worst service! FOREIGNERS ARE SERVED SECOND! OWNER DOESN'T CARE NEITHER ABOUT CUSTOMERS NOR ABOUT HIS STAFF! Never coming back!! It's the second time I was here- both times I needed to remind the waiter about my drink, and both times wait forever for the food, but that's no biggie, you often have to wait a while for your food in Goa, but the other night was appauling - I came when the restaurant was nearly empty, ordered my food, waited and waited, 4 tables that come AFTER me get served their food one by one in front of my eyes, while I'd been waiting for an hour already!! Whether it's a coincidence or the fact that those tables were all Indian, I don't know, but there you go. I make a fuss, they tell me 2 more minutes, no apologies. 10 minutes pass by and I see that another table that came just as I complained gets served their food! I don't know whether to laugh or to cry.. Eventually ONE out of 2 dishes arrives when I'm about to leave. I ask about my other dish which is my main meal, asking if it is ready. The answer is yes, but it doesn't come! I half-finish my lentils which were supposed to accompany my prawns since I'm hungry and was supposed to stop for just 30 min max to have a quick bite and it's already past 9pm, I don't want to be full for my main course, but it doesn't come! Eventually I stand up and take my things.
I ask the waiters to explain why they make me wait an hour to bring me half of my order while people who came after me had their food and left already! They just say it's a mistake. A mistake is one table! Not 4 tables!! Downstairs I have to explain to a person who looks like the owner about what happened and tell him I don't want to pay for a treatment that seemed like I was being laughed at! He said I ate the daal so I have to pay- and what do you want me to do after I come hungry to a place and after an hour you bring me some food while it's late and raining outside?!
If getting served last because you're white, reminding the waiter about what you ordered, and waiting for your food an hour+ is normal here, this should be written at the entrance to the restaurant!
Not even a discount? Not even an apology??!!! They just kept saying "It was a mistake"- well, if you mess up 4+ times maybe you try to correct it a bit? I left them 35% tip in the owed change- because they seemed like they were more hungry than me.. :)
Interestingly, when I was in there texting my French friend who was waiting for me at home, saying my food is not arriving, he asked me if I was at "Lavish"- the same thing happened to him in April- he waited forever while people who came after him were being served!
I want to add that the waiter who was serving looked very stressed and overworked. And the seeming owner sat downstairs taking payments did not set his foot even once upstairs to check how things are going. Appaling treatment of both customers and staff members!
It's my second month in Goa, and I eat out twice a day every single day- plenty of places around to chose from where you are treated with...
Read moreWe visited Lavish restaurant in Dec 2021 for a dinner and the experience was amazing. Listing the detailed review of our experience below:
Parking: Parking for 2 wheelers is easy and available in front of the hotel. I think there was space for 4-wheeler parking at next to the resort but I am not sure on this point. Location: It is located on the Mandrem road a bit away from the hustle and bustle of Arambol but quite easy to locate and get to if you have a private vehicle Food: We had the best food in Arambol at Lavish. The items we ordered were: a. Onion Rings: 8/10 b. Chicken Lollipop: 8/10 c. Chicken Hawan Kund: 9/10 d. Aloo Paratha: 9/10 e. Pineapple Juice: 10/10 Ambience: The ambience is great with Bulbs hung on ropes and music playing throughout. Pricing: All the items are priced reasonably and I think this is the only value for money restaurant in the whole of Arambol which is quite overpriced. Suggestions/Improvements: The service time should be improved as it took atleast 45 mins for our order to arrive. They took 20 mins just to provide the bill and we chose to pay over the counter
PRO TIP: Choose to go to the top section for good...
Read moreI was 21, when I first dined here and it's been 5 years since I've been coming back here for a proper north Indian dinner or lunch, i.e. Butter Naan and a curry like Butter Chicken, or a veg Kolhapuri, or paneer masala.
Apart from a proper meal, I'd often go here for a beer and snack, they don't have the best sandwich or breakfast in general, however this place will always serve you the most fresh chicken and vegetables.
Do not expect them to make modifications to their preparations, this is an economic place and they do not like to entertain request for modifications. If you order a prawn masala, it will be served spicy and with the shell. I'm not complaining, it is delicious nevertheless.
Expect to wait at least 45mins for a usual size order, and then you shall be mesmerized with their delicacies.
