Airy, spacious & modern restaurant. I went during monsoon season and thought there would be no one there. It was nice to see it was quite busy with locals.
The menu is typical of what all the others offered with specials on a board. They were just specific types of seafood. They had crab which they showed me at the back live brown crabs. I would presume you can then choose how to cook it and with what sauce.
I opted for the fish thali and omg my mind was blown with the deliciousness and flavors. I have been to the north of India before and not a stranger to the Indian cuisine but did not expect these burst of flavors coming from all the dishes. Goan flavors are now definitely my favorite type of Indian taste.
The curry had a sour spiciness which whets the appetite nicely, with the whole fish I opted for a Portuguese paste which again had the sour spiciness element to it. The middle was slightly undercooked at the bone but that would be the only thing that I would raise and even that it’s not a big deal and take away from the dish. The other dishes was a prawn kismoor which is a dried shrimp accompaniment which had a nice sweet taste to it, a dried lemon chutney, a poppadom, rice, salad and sol kadi which initially I thought was a dipping sauce and came to realise it was a digestive drink - it was a tangy garlicky drink and it was nice using as a dip for my poppadom and rice.
I also got bebinca, which is a popular traditional goan cake, a sweet spongy type served warm.
I ordered a masala chai which come out in a massive mug and piping hot. The aromatics were so good!
With a bottle a water this all came to 473 rupees, $8 AUD, €5. This included some sort of government tax too. Absolute bargain. My waiter was lovely. No doubt I will visit here before I leave the area! Highly highly recommend!
In the end of my week stay I dined here 3 times! Other dishes I recommend would be the dry clam fry tisre sukhe.. it was sweet, buttery and moreish! I tried the kingfish thali too but I preferred the mackerel thali.. it was much more flavorful!
All in all.. you can’t really go wrong with...
Read moreDo not go to this place. Instead try Martins Corner which is few meters away. Situation: This place was not our first choice but we decided to give it a try. We went there to have our breakfast. We ordered aloo parathas Club sandwich, tuna sandwiches, shakes, juices smoothies and masala tea. Aloo paratha and masala tea were the highlights as they were okay. I am not sure if they understand the difference between a smoothie and a lassi. There was so much curd in the smoothie that it tasted like a lassi. I am not sure why they have two sections of smoothies and lassi if they can’t differentiate among the two. Smoothie tasted like a curd with some fruit flavor added. The worst were the sandwiches. The bread was barely grilled and yet dry to a point that it was felling apart from the sandwich. It was certainly stale as it tasted bad. We did ask staff to grill it and they did grill it but nothing much changed in terms of taste. The size, taste and texture of the bread was something which can’t be served. I think we were decent enough to not to throw them at their faces. Just one word for sandwiches- Nightmare If I had the authority, I would have fired the chef at the same moment. Ironically, I was traveling through Indigo and ordered a cucumber cheese sandwich and it tasted so good. You can certainly learn a thing or two from Indigo airlines. You know where you stand when a domestic airline serves a better sandwich than your so called resturant. I do not recommend this place. You don’t really want to start your day with the most obnoxious food you...
Read moreI traveled to the Majorda area of Goa for 2 weeks during June and was staying close to The Camron Restaurant. I happened to stumble upon The Camron trying to escape a rain storm on my 1st day and after sampling the food I knew I had found a great place. I tried a few other restaurants in the area but none compared to the quality of food and service and the general relaxed and informal homely vibe of The Camron. It became the base for the duration of my stay (as it also has great WiFi signal), and most day's I ate here at least twice and sampled almost the whole menu during my stay. I would recommend anything on the menu as each item was truly delicious but my 2 favourites were - the Goan seafood thaali (if you have a good appetite) and the Creamy Shashlik Tandoori Seafood Kebab. The new breakfast menu was also a treasure trove of joy to try. The selection of cocktails were also great. All staff were attentive and very warm and made me feel at home. The owner and manager Morgan was always there to share his warm smile and his time with welcoming conversation and a helpful insight into any questions I had about the area etc. He has started his own plantation down the lane behind the restaurant from where he is sourcing some of the ingredients for the cuisine. You can't get much fresher than that! Recommended to everyone and...
